The CERCLE Ethics Working Group Leadership offers its heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Leonardo de Castro. We are deeply saddened to learn of his passing. A rare tropical disease throughout the 20th century, cases of Zika virus have now been reported across 89 countries and territories. In most people, symptoms of Zika are mild. To boost Somalia's health system and ensure access to life-saving vaccines for all, Africa CDC handed over cold chain equipment worth $497,617.84 to the Ministry of Health. This equipment, including walk-in cold rooms, refrigerators, vaccine carriers, and cold boxes, will strengthen the immunization program by ensuring the safe storage and transportation of vaccines to the last mile. This support is part of the Saving Lives and Livelihoods initiative, a partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.
