It's here! The inauguration of Life Zeus: a universal project for the planet! We are pleased to share a significant milestone of the LIFE ZEUS project: last week, MONIN inaugurated the industrial wastewater recycling demonstrator ZEUS - LIFE ENV/FR/000186. After the opening remarks of their master of ceremonies, Marc-Yvan Laroye, the International Office for Water, olivier monin recalled the genesis of the project and his responsibility as citizens and industrialists to preserve this resource essential to human activities: water. Ludovic Lanouguère then presented the official results of the latest tests. Thanks to the demonstrator, by 2025, MONIN will be able to: 🔸 Recycle 80% of their industrial effluents to obtain water suitable for food contact thanks to R-Oasys. 🔸 Economically and energetically recover concentrated effluents through anaerobic digestion. 🔸 Achieve more than 60% water savings on our total consumption. 🔸 Save 65% of salt consumption thanks to ReGeCycle We're proud to be a part of this great achievement! #monin #upcycle #waterrecycling #watermanagement #waterusage

A study by Professor Thomas Egli underlined that little attention has been given to the microbiology of domestic hot-water installations, except for aspects of pathogenic Legionella. Worldwide, regulations consider hot (or warm) water as ‘heated drinking water’ that must comply with (cold) drinking water standards. Although no major pathogens have been associated specifically with hot-water usage, these thermophilic strains may influence water quality in general and may interact with opportunistic pathogens’ growth. Therefore, a better understanding of microbiomes in domestic hot-water installations is needed. Last week, ToDrinQ EU presented its case study in Beaune, France. 🇫🇷 Pesticides, nitrates, and metals are periodically analysed in an external laboratory, with a lead time of several days. This doesn't allow prompt diagnosis, reactive mitigation, and close monitoring of the corrective measures, whether the event occurs in the raw water sources or within the distribution. Water quality management is currently based on the level of water resources and climate conditions. The French health agency stressed the need for a higher level of monitoring for pesticide metabolites so non-compliance events may occur. What were the outcomes? 🔸 Improved raw water quality monitoring, which optimised the use of each source and the operation of each treatment plant. 🔸 Enhanced operational reactivity when facing water quality issues. 🔸Secured drinking water quality at all stages of its treatment and distribution. We're proud to have been a partner! Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/ehcGGCgj #drinkingwater #waterquality #watertreatment #watersolutions
🙌Coming up next week! 🗓On October 16-17, ToDrinQ EU will host the 4th General Assembly in Beaune, France. Our partners will come together and update everybody on progress, activities and results while having some fun. 📍In Beaune, Veolia Water Technologies hosts ToDrinQ's Case Study #4 where we are demonstrating novel #waterquality monitoring solutions. Here, the water treatment process primarily relies on the Bouzaise plant, which draws water from the Bouzaise spring and distributes it to the Beaune city. Our Business Development and Sales Manager for North America, Bryan Kimbell, represented bNovate at the inaugural "Swim with the Sharks" event held by the Xylem Innovations Lab team last week at #XylemReach in Atlanta. Hosted by Oliver Puckering and competing with Matt Johnson from LAIIER and Mattias Enggaard from 7Analytics, Bryan took home 1st place after an intense deliberation by the sharks. 🦈 As you can see, the winner's trophy was worth every effort. Thank you, Gabby Pinto! #sharktank #innovation #watermanagement #swimwiththesharks

Last week, our Sales Manager Anna Whittaker and Field Application Scientist Kyle Smetherham attended WWEM in Birmingham from 9 to 10 October. WWEM, the Water, Wastewater, and Environmental Monitoring event, is the UK's largest show for Instruments and water and wastewater process monitoring services. Anna gave a presentation on "Digitalising microbiology - it’s time to fill this gap." In this talk, she showed how chlorine dosing can be fully automated using online flow cytometry. Through digitalisation, bNovate's customer was able to automate the measurement interval via connection to the Swiss RainAlert app and use the Bactosense data to automatically switch on and off chlorination. This meant that the pristine Alpine water quality could be preserved, and chlorine could only be used when needed. Over the last few decades, digitalisation has played a pivotal role in reshaping the water management landscape. Smart sensors, data analytics, predictive modelling and remote monitoring and control have paved the way for a new era of productivity and safety in water utilities. Energy-efficient new treatment plant designs are implemented, processes are streamlined, and operators can access and control relevant process parameters via SCADA. However, amidst these advancements, one critical aspect has seen very limited evolution: microbiology. Traditional plating tests that lack real-time and online measurement capabilities remain prevalent in measuring microbiological water quality. This hinders the understanding of dynamic processes and taking action in case of an abnormal change of the bacterial concentration. In recent years, online rapid microbiological monitoring solutions have emerged as revolutionary digital tools, bridging the technological gap left by conventional methods. BactoSense, one of the pioneers, is an industrial-grade water monitoring solution that applies flow cytometry technology to count bacteria automatically. It brings microbiology into the digital era, offering parameters at high temporal resolution. In this presentation, she detailed the water path from catchment to tap, exploring digitalisation's positive impact and practical implications in microbiological water quality monitoring. The cherry on top was the awards gala dinner, which included a brilliant cover band. #galadinner #awardsnight #wwem #wwem2024 #wwem24 #waterislife
