Els zoàrcids (Zoarcidae) són una família de peixos marins pertanyents a l'ordre dels perciformes i al superordre dels acantopterigis.[1]
Morfologia
[modifica]Cos allargat. Aletes dorsal i anal allargades i formant una aleta contínua juntament amb l'aleta caudal. Absència d'aletes pelvianes. 58-150 vèrtebres. Segons les espècies, poden presentar o no escates. Zoarces americanus n'és l'espècie amb la màxima longitud: 1,1 m.[2]
Reproducció
[modifica]Les tres espècies del gènere Zoarces són ovovivípares, tots els altres són ovípars.[2]
Hàbitat
[modifica]Les 220 espècies d'aquesta família són marines (algunes a gran fondària).[3]
