Open & Embedded Insurance Observatory
Chexy, a Canadian startup which allows renters to pay their rent online whilst earning rewards and building credit, has announced it has raised $3 million in a seed round. The round was led by Venrex, alongside Crossbeam Venture Partners, GroundBreak Ventures, Antler, as well as strategic angels in real estate, fintech, and banking. Lizaveta Akhvledziani, CFA, CEO, said: “Not having rent payments on the credit report is causing a significant information asymmetry between tenants and landlords, making the next apartment search hard in an incredibly competitive rental market. Homeownership in Canada is already a pipe dream for many, so this is Chexy’s way of helping people move closer to achieving their dreams.” Chexy recently announced Chexy Home Services, allowing tenants to purchase tenant insurance coverage, WiFi, phone services, and more—all at great rates under the Chexy home system with more services to come, making the Canadian rental experience more convenient and affordable. https://lnkd.in/eBumUGwG #embeddedinsurance #openinsurance #insurtech #funding #insurance

Every great adventure begins with a story, and ours started in 2005 under the name "BrandHealth." 🚀 Back then, our founders had a vision: to create a health and wellness agency that stood apart from the typical Toronto advertising scene. We set up camp in the heart of Peterborough, Ontario, at 379 George St., far from the usual hustle and bustle. This distance gave us a unique perspective and culture, allowing us to approach advertising and communications with a different lens and fresh, innovative ideas. 🌲🏞️ Why "Outpost379"? Our name reflects our journey and our mission. "Outpost" signifies our position as a haven for creativity and strategic thinking, away from the same-old, same-old, and the chaotic rat race. The "379" in our name is a nod to our roots and our physical address, anchoring us to the place where it all began. Our Evolution: • 2005: Founded as BrandHealth, focusing on health and wellness sectors. • Rebranding to Outpost379: We embraced our identity as a unique, nature-inspired agency. Our office, with its rustic, outdoorsy theme, complete with canoes hanging from the ceiling, is a testament to our commitment to a work environment that fosters creativity and connection. • The Wellness Agency: Today, we proudly dedicate ourselves to inspiring and empowering healthier living through our work. Our Mission: From day one, our goal has been to connect people to brands and causes that improve the human condition. Whether it's health, medicine, fitness, education, community... we create campaigns that educate, illuminate, and showcase the true value of our clients' brands. Working together to inspire and empower healthier living. Discover more about us at outpost379.com/work/ #Outpost379 #WellnessAgency #OriginStory #Advertising #HealthAndWellness #Creativity

Canada’s e-commerce scene is stronger than you think—and creative is still the #1 challenge holding brands back. Here’s what I learned at #EcomNorth that every DTC brand needs to know. 1. Canada’s E-commerce Resilience Canada is a lot more resilient than most people think. While the US often dominates the e-commerce conversation, I'm incredibly bullish on Canadian brands. It's exciting to see so many Canadians stepping into the DTC space and investing in their growth. The energy and commitment at this conference were inspiring. 2. Creative is Still a Major Hurdle Creative continues to be a massive challenge for brands. Everyone knows it’s crucial for paid social growth, but many still struggle with how to generate creative at scale that delivers ROI. James Zhao at No Growth (www.nogrowth.ca) gave an incredible presentation on their approach to creative, and tailors their services to lead with video creative while offering media buying as a secondary service. It’s a smart edge for scaling in 2024 and beyond. 3. Aaron Spivak is a beast Aaron was the first speaker, and he set the tone. His story of coming from nothing, failing repeatedly, and eventually achieving his goals was truly inspiring. What stood out was his mindset: "If someone else can do it, I can do it too." That level of confidence is exactly what brand owners need to generate ideas and push their creative boundaries. Brands are lucky he didn’t pick another category to dominate lol Thanks for putting on a great event! Looking forward to seeing everyone next year.
