Zatzman Sportsplex is a recreation facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Featuring a double-gymnasium, two swimming pools, a three-section weight room, two squash and racquetball courts, an arena with ice and a running/walking track, three fitness studios with a full range of fitness classes, and three modern meeting rooms, the facility offers a full range of sports and recreation programs and lessons.

Our video series on homelessness in the municipality continues this week with the answer to a question we’ve been getting several times per day over the past couple of weeks: What can residents do to help those experiencing homelessness? We’re not surprised that our residents are so eager to help. This caring nature is what makes Halifax such a wonderful place to live. Some may ask – but what is the municipality doing to help? We continue to work with the province on creating housing solutions, while at the same time providing those experiencing homelessness with designated outdoor sheltering locations that offer services like garbage collection and water delivery. Electrical power is currently provided at two locations and staff are examining the feasibility of providing similar access to some additional locations over the coming weeks. We also provide needed supplies and work hard to make sure someone is ready to move into housing when something suitable becomes available. Our Planning & Developing team is always working on ways to make the construction and preservation of affordable and deeply affordable housing easier.
