We are proud to have designed Honda Canada national headquarters campus located on the environmentally sensitive Rouge River site, this new campus serves as the national administrative and logistics centre for this global corporation while supporting service engineering, including the research and development activities and service bays for Honda’s automotive, motorcycle and marine product lines. This new LEED Gold-certified office building located at the Honda Canada Campus in Markham, is the company’s first LEED-certified building in Canada. Congrats to Honda Canada on the recent announcement of a $15 billion new electric vehicle plant in Ontario. With the support of governments of Canada and Ontario, Honda aims to manufacture over 240,000 cars every year, Honda will be establishing the largest electric vehicle campus in North America. Mass Timber mastery. Incredible experience touring the new Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) head office in Vaughan, Ontario. This was my first time stepping foot inside a large mass timber structure, where embodied carbon was clearly an important consideration of the integrated design process from the get-go. A very unique ZCB-Design v1 certified project with passive design elements, natural ventilation, solar chimneys and water walls, and an open-loop geothermal field with a single borehole to provide space heating to the entire building. Special thanks to Partners in Project Green for the opportunity to present on CAGBC | Canada Green Building Council’s Zero Carbon Building program, and it’s importance to our national #climateaction. Personally, dawning the PPE and getting the ol’ steel toed boots muddy again was an additional bonus! Kudos to all those involved in this impressive initiative. This new mass timber structure captures the creative energy of our organization and achieves healthy benchmark building standards of both LEED and WELL Institutes. Inspired by heritage brick-and-beam buildings, developer Hines’ T3 concept is transformational, and ZAS is thrilled to move our operations there in September 2023.
