Today marks the National Day of Action on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people (MMIWG2S ). We hold space for Indigenous women, girls, 2SLGBTQQIA people who are missing, have been murdered, or are survivors of gender and race-based violence. We stand with their families and communities. This is not an issue of the past—current systems perpetuate violations of the rights of Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people, but change is possible. As industry, community, allies, and individuals, we must create positive change and prioritize a nation where Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people live free from violence, and are celebrated, honoured, respected, valued, treated equitably, safe, and secure. We encourage you to take the time to read and understand “Reclaiming Power and Place: The Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls” and its Calls for Justice, and the National Action Plan and Federal Pathway. https://lnkd.in/gqfr27q

We make amazing things happen by fully embracing everyone’s unique experiences, skills, perspectives, and knowledge. Collaboration is more than just a practice—it's part of our culture. Every project is shaped by the collective expertise, creativity, and vision of our whole team. We thrive on an open exchange of ideas, where architects, designers, and innovators come together to push boundaries and create spaces that inspire. This culture of collaboration fuels everything we do, allowing us to design with purpose, precision, and passion. It’s not just how we work—it’s who we are. #wearezeidler #zeidler70

Today on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation we honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, including their families and communities. We encourage everyone to take action throughout the year toward truth and reconciliation. We all have a responsibility to uphold as people living within treaty lands by fulfilling the Truth and Reconciliation 94 Calls to Action, rebuilding relationships, and learning about the relevant history, culture, and current events.   We are humbled to be a design firm practicing in support of Truth and Reconciliation Call to Action 92, and we work to continually improve our practices around meaningful consultation, relationship building, and providing educational opportunities to our team around Indigenous history, legacy, and relations.

Say hello to Lydia Maximnuk! Lydia is a recent Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) grad, first joining Zeidler Architecture as a student, and after completing her diploma, continuing with the talented team in our Calgary studio! Curious about the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ behind the structures she admires and occupies every day, her career as a technologist was a natural fit. Among Lydia’s favourite aspects of her work is that every project is unique and provides new learning opportunities. Motivated by one of her much-loved quotes from Helen Hayes, “the expert in anything was once a beginner,” Lydia is excited to continue growing her knowledge with the Zeidler team. When Lydia isn't creating building models or coordinating with the team, she can be found at the gym, outside enjoying nature, or at home playing card games with her friends and family. We are thrilled to have Lydia on the team as we continue to build on 70 years of shaping spaces that inspire! #wearezeidler #meetzeidler #Zeidler70
