By leaning into electrification, marine communities are able to foster growth and address some of the challenges of the blue economy in a sustainable way and protect the environment at the same time. A report by Energy Futures released a few weeks ago expressed concern over the lack of infrastructure that would be required to support the zero emission vehicle sales targets set by the Provincial Government of British Columbia. Currently, the pace of adding more infrastructure is not keeping up with the demand of EV's set to hit the road. The need for more energy is equally alarming as demand for power increases exponentially with more EV's. How can energy management help? What most people are unaware of is the significant amounts of energy lost, much of it due to standby power (vampire energy).
