About us

The Toronto Transit Commission has a rich history dating back to 1921. Since that time, the TTC has grown to become North America’s third largest transit system, providing 1.7 million customer journeys every workday, or around 540 million rides per year. The TTC has a proud record for providing safe, reliable transit. Operating across five distinct modes of transportation, the TTC has developed a reputation for excellence in the integration of those modes through well-proven design. A full-service operator, the TTC is capable of undertaking virtually every activity in-house via our 17,000 dedicated and professional employees. Toronto’s transit system should match the experience of living in such a city: a high quality, accessible network that understands what our customers need and delivers what matters most to them. The TTC is committed to delivering a world-class transit system.

  • 🌟 Employee Spotlight 🌟 Ana Caputo - Transit Control Dispatcher, Transit Control Transit Control Dispatcher Ana Caputo recently recognized Portuguese Heritage Month this past June. To Ana, celebrating Portuguese Heritage Month with the unique flavours and music of her culture. “It fills me with pride and joy to see our heritage recognized and celebrated,” she said. “These celebrations are a way for me and my family to connect with our community.” Ana’s role at the TTC involves dispatching and responding to emergencies and service disruptions from the Transit Control Centre at Hillcrest Complex. Some of her proudest moments have been mentoring new employees and watching them grow into confident, skilled professionals. This is something she considers an important notch in her belt. Ana aims to strike a delicate balance between her role at the TTC and her journey through motherhood. “This has been fulfilling, and allowed me to nurture both my colleagues’ development and my children’s growth.” And when it comes to family, Ana’s Portuguese identity is very much intertwined. Whether it’s the language or the history, she weaves pieces of Portugal into her home through rich traditions and delicious foods, such as arroz de marisco (seafood rice) and arroz doce (rice pudding), which she loves to make with family.
