It’s simple – triathlon is making Jeff Shmoorkoff a better doctor. Dr. Shmoorkoff sees in his patience the importance of balancing life and work. Having also delivered countless healthy babies into this world, last summer, Dr. Shmoorkoff bagged one number he will never forget in his quest for living a healthy life of his own - his 60th World Championship start (and finish) by the time he was 60 years old. #TriThis “Patients and colleagues, I’ve seen too many people who work their butts off, then they retire and they don’t get to enjoy their retirement, because they get cancer, a stroke or a heart attack. Triathlon Alberta

On the heels of leading Stefan Daniel to his sixth World Triathlon Para Championship title and Leanne Taylor to a Paralympic bronze medal, Carolyn Murray is stepping down from her head coaching role with Canada’s Para triathlon program for a new career opportunity. The nation’s long-time Para triathlon coach has accepted a new position as summer-sport high performance advisor with Own the Podium. “I think the end of any Paralympic quadrennial provides a natural time for all of us to pause, reflect and decide what is next. After dedicating all of my energy to Triathlon Canada’s Para program over the last decade, I felt it was time for fresh thinking, new ideas but also for me to continue to grow and learn from new challenges while working under other sport leaders in Canada.” … Carolyn Murray More from Carolyn 👇 https://lnkd.in/gNnEs7q2

Captivated by what she had just witnessed watching Tyler Mislawchuk compete at the Olympic Games on television, Charlotte Burmester got busy. She conceived a triathlon course and set it up. Then, despite being the sole entrant, she raced the darned thing. Hard. More than once. Quite the undertaking for a nine-year-old from Whitby, Ont.. The 30-year-old Mislawchuk — who, as a kid, had been struck by Simon Whitfield courageous silver-medal performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics — says athletes wielding that degree of influence is “mind-blowing.” That a little girl would throw herself into a new sport — because of him? Powerful stuff!
