On Sunday, we hosted a memorable event at the Ingenium Centre for Toyota Canada Inc., as part of the Ottawa stop on a cross-Canada road trip in honour of their 60th anniversary. We were thrilled to feature the first generation Prius model from our collection, displayed alongside the latest 2024 Prius model. This display is an incredible juxtaposition that represents a journey of innovation – a story close to our hearts at Ingenium. This event not only celebrates the history of Prius since the delivery of the first-generation model to Ingenium, but locks into our mission to put ingenuity in the spotlight through the stories revealed in our one-of-a-kind national collection of science and technology artifacts. The Toyota Motor Skills Clinic enables patients with varying mobility challenges to regain their confidence during recovery, as they prepare to re-enter their communities. Thank you, Toyota Canada Inc., for removing barriers to mobility by donating $500,000 to modernize the Toyota Canada Motor Skills Clinic at Providence Healthcare. Rehab patients recovering from a stroke, a critical illness, orthopedic surgery or an amputated limb will soon have a more high-tech, immersive experience as they learn to navigate walking on various surfaces and curbs, climb into cars, and drive in different weather and day- and night-time conditions. David Sutton is one of those patients. A diabetic, he developed an infection and had to have his foot amputated. “You face a different world after an amputation, and you need to learn to cope, physically and mentally. The Toyota Canada Motor Skills Clinic has helped me do both. It’s a real confidence-builder. You know the Toyota ad campaign, ‘Start Your Impossible’?
