Although today TIAP is wholly focused on #healthscience, we have a history and experience that spans technology areas, and our portfolio includes companies from a variety of other innovation sectors (positioning us well as we see traditional #lifesciences evolve to converge with #AI, #ML and other critical technologies). To this end, we are excited to share that our portfolio company, University of Toronto spin-off QD Solar Inc. has been acquired by SunDensity Inc. to bring the companies’ complementary #cleanenergy #solar solutions together — and to enable the establishment of SunDensity Canada, with the company staying and building out new capacity here in #Toronto. We are very proud to have been able to play a part in helping create and retain this value for our #Ontario and Canadian #innovation ecosystem! We've always said that building successful new #Ontario and Canadian #lifesciences ventures takes a village. Our federal government is an integral part of that village, and it can certainly be argued that no federal program has had more impact on supporting the emerging companies in our national #innovation ecosystem than IRAP, delivered by the National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada. We were honoured to host a fantastic group of NRC-IRAP Industrial Technology Advisors at our facility yesterday, discussing the complementarity of our respective programs and resources and the importance of working together to make sure our ventures have the greatest chance at success possible. Our LAB150 Program is a unique drug development partnership that brings together the resources and expertise of TIAP, our member innovators, Evotec and Amgen to de-risk projects and create value by advancing therapeutic candidates from discovery to preclinical validation.
