Nonprofit overwhelm. When we are constantly being bombarded with challenges of: - too little funding - information overload - a lack of peer support - and so much more. This job has never felt bigger - we need changemakers and doers more than ever. This recent Hive interview with Anna Taylor highlights the same challenges we are seeing coming out of many Hive conversations. As nonprofit employees we can't just pay lip service to it and say, "hey, all staff talk about what's hard right now." Pushing past our reality is injurous to our teams and our greater ability to have Impact. It feels hard to keep a positive outlook as we head in to Year End but we love Anna's advice - Be Patient and Be Curious. How do you stay positive in the face of nonprofit challenges? ____________________________________ Anna is the Executive Director of The Greater Sum Foundation - a foundation focused on fueling innovation in the sector by providing tools, grants, and assistance for nonprofit startups. Whether you're an innovative, scalable, early-stage nonprofit, a donor looking for worthy organizations to fund, or a volunteer ready to offer expertise and time, The Greater Sum is where you belong. Your nonprofit story carries value. It is often the first touch point for potential donors/advocates/community members to learn about your mission. Your story needs to speak to who you are and what you stand for. And in this attention economy, you might only get one shot at telling that story well. How can your nonprofit highlight your "why" and move your audience to action? _____________________________________________ This week's free Hive Chat sponsor is Keepers of the Story. Daniel Sagona and team are helping purpose driven brands and nonprofit organizations create a real emotional connection through video. We know video as a marketing medium immediately has nonprofits concerned about outsized budgets and Marvel movie level visuals, but the best stories are powerful because of the people in them. Keepers of the Story has a 4 step process to get their clients over the finish line. - Discovery: Develop a solution by zeroing in on which stories we need to tell to move the needle. - Strategy: What does success look like? How will we measure success? Answering this question gives us the tools to pivot as needed to hit your goals. - Creative: They generally run with a smaller crew to keep costs, logistics, and footprint down, allowing the team to keep focused on the creativity. - Execution: Telling your story, repeatedly. People need to see your story, and see it often, across platforms, to drive results. Let’s make that happen. Make sure to reach out to Daniel and team and see how they can support your nonprofit video-storytelling. Starting telling stories that move your audience to action. https://lnkd.in/g7Gmjsp7 #storytelling #nonprofit #socialimpact #videomarketing #marketing

3 Key Takeaways for Transitioning to a Nonprofit Career. Here are a few excerpts from our newest Hive Article (inspired by our LinkedIn Live!!) 1. Be Curious: Research, Learn, and Build Connections Amina Mohamed, who founded Cameras For Girls, stresses the importance of staying humble and open to learning: “I didn’t come from the nonprofit world, so I’m constantly learning. I reach out, I ask questions, and I connect with people who are where I want to be.” 2. Embrace Your Strengths and Transferable Skills Michael Le, now the Executive Director of the Pacific Dental Services Foundation, highlights how his background as an attorney helped him navigate the nonprofit space. “I realized that my legal and business background gave me unique strengths, from navigating governance issues to building partnerships.” 3. Learn to Collaborate and Adapt to Limited Resources Nelvin Johnson, who now works as the Director of Advancement for Feed the Children, emphasizes how collaboration has been a cornerstone of his success in fundraising. “Nonprofits are often asked to do more with fewer resources, but that’s where creativity comes in. We can’t thrive in isolation; we have to lean on each other." What would your biggest piece of advice be for making the move to nonprofit??? HUGE thanks to our panelists, you made this such an incredible conversation. Check out the full article here! https://lnkd.in/ga3qYAqi
