Our team members are on the ground right now in Alberta to deliver kits and supplies to communities impacted by the wildfires. Technicians are working day and night to restore damaged phone services and we continue to refuel our tower sites by helicopter. Backup generators are in place now to help maintain wireless coverage for first responders. For those impacted, please stay safe and let us know if we can assist further.

We are devastated by the wildfires in Alberta. We send our deepest sympathies to the communities and nations impacted by these fires, and our heartfelt gratitude to the firefighters and first responders supporting them on the frontlines. As our Shakti by TELUS planters (pictured below) work tirelessly on the ground in Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and beyond to recover what has been lost to extreme climate events over the past few years, it is a humbling reminder of the collective task we face. Protecting and restoring nature has never been more important for Canadians. Our thoughts are with all who have been affected, and we encourage our customers and fellow team members to donate. Last week, Lisims Internet & Technology Services (LITS) and TELUS achieved the milestone of bringing our third wireless tower online, meaning that all four Nisga’a Nation villages in the Nass Valley now have wireless connectivity! Andrew Borne, Director of Information Technology at LITS, says: "It really touches home knowing people can now have the security in knowing whatever phone they may have, they can be in communication with their families and friends…The LITS team continues a strong learning path, and the remainder of the project is really ramping excitement in the communities…you can tell." We continue to work diligently on this first-of-its-kind partnership, providing wireless connectivity over the TELUS network on Nisga’a Nation owned infrastructure.
