Michael San Miguel is a Claims Industry Partner Representative at SGI. He's also been volunteering with MADD for five years.   Some of the work he's done with MADD includes participating in checkstops, in collaboration with SGI and municipal police services. The goal is to share awareness about impaired driving, and make sure the roads are safe.   Recently, Michael was at the launch of the Crashed Car Campaign in Saskatoon, pictured here.   Volunteering with MADD is important to him because he wants to make sure our community is safe.

SGI is proud to work with communities who are finding ways to champion traffic safety. Students at Wapawikoscikan School in Pelican Narrows covered paper bags in artwork and messages encouraging safe driving behaviours, as pictured here. Messages were written in both English and Cree. The bags were then given out to customers at local stores and gas stations. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gduFh-DM #FindaSafeRide

Meet Mauriah Bedore. Mauriah is the first intern with SGI under the Crown Career Pathways internship program. Most recently, Mauriah graduated with a degree in Human Resources. She says finding a job after graduating can be challenging, especially when you don't have prior experience. "When I saw this posting, it really resonated with me because as an Indigenous person, it was working towards building that gap and having more Indigenous people in the workplace," Mauriah said. The Crown Career Pathways internship is for Indigenous graduates from a Saskatchewan post-secondary institute within the last two years. SGI has created a culture of belonging that ignites limitless possibilities and ensures safety, value and respect for all. Our recruitment efforts aim to reflect those we serve. This program is a direct response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action #92. "This internship has offered a lot of opportunities to engage with Indigenous leaders and the Indigenous community," Mauriah said. "These interactions have allowed me to deepen my connection with my Indigenous culture, and I've made some great connections along the way." Mauriah says her experience in the internship has been unique because she has been able to experience all the different departments within SGI's Human Resources department. "With this (experience), I'll get a solid grasp of how each area in HR works, how they all connect and, most importantly to me, it gives me a chance to find what area I want to choose for my career down the line." Join Mauriah and take the first step towards a rewarding career with SGI. Share this post to spread the word, and apply to be a part of a program that values growth, community, and culture. Your journey starts here. The next round of applications for the Crown Career Pathways internship is open now.
