From a high-level perspective the Google Design Sprint is great. It serves as a valuable tool for kickstarting creativity efficiently and is revered across the tech landscape. However, our teams faced a few issues trying to implement this framework: 1. We were unable to arrange consecutive meetings due to varying class schedules 2. There was no availability for long, 5-6 hours brainstorming sessions 3. The given template is too slow for teams working remotely As a result, we had to reimagine the sprint, radically transforming the traditional 5-day intensive sprint to 2 virtual meetings over 2 weeks, supplemented with individual tasks. Check out our solution in the Medium article attached. It’s a straightforward account of our methods, challenges, and the lessons learned along the way. #TechForGood #Innovation #Design

In less than 6 months, SFU Blueprint evolved from a team of 3 to a 43-member organization spanning across FIC, SFU, and UBC. We would like to give a huge shoutout to our incredible team, partners, and supporters for being with SFU Blueprint through our first semester together! And now we owe the rest of you all an update! During this semester, we: 1. Interviewed with NPOs as part of our scoping mission 2. Assembled an awesome team of developers, and designers 3. Completed our own rendition of the Google Design Sprint across all our teams 4. Hosted our first in person Clean Code Tech Session At SFU Blueprint, our mission is clear: deliver creative tech solutions to non-profits. Right now, we're juggling 3 exciting projects: 🚀 Our organizational website! 🚀 An AI Chatbot for MOSAIC specializing in assisting immigrants (it will be multilingual!) 🚀 A physio-AI related medical app What's on the horizon? We're gearing up to craft a volunteer management app for PEDALS and also continuously exploring opportunities with other NPOs 👀. Stay tuned for more updates on our strive for social good and cheers to a happy new year! #SFUBlueprint #Blueprint #techforgood
