You loved the photos so much, we had to share the footage too 🎥 The HaiSea Wamis is departing the Vancouver Harbour for the final time this weekend, to sail home to Kitamaat Village. It will be joined by the rest of the HaiSea Marine fleet by mid-August, where they will prepare for the opening of the LNG Canada facility, coming online later this year. For many generations, Haisla Nation has successfully navigated the waters of the Douglas Channel. With HaiSea Marine, they will be continuing to do so in one of the greenest tugboat fleets in the world.

A big thank you to ACADA - Atlantic Canada Aerospace & Defence Association for hosting last week's Maritime and Arctic Security and Safety Conference in St. John's, NL #MASS24 As one of Canada’s large-vessel shipbuilders under the #NationalShipbuildingStrategy and a strategic partner for the Canadian Coast Guard/Garde côtière canadienne, the topic of maritime and Arctic security is very important to us. Seaspan Shipyards' CEO, John McCarthy, gave the keynote speech, where he spoke about Seaspan's cross-Canada partnerships, the success of the NSS so far, and how lessons learned are positioning Seaspan for success going forward. He also provided updates and an overview on the Coast Guard's new Polar Icebreaker, one of the most complex icebreakers in the world, on which we'll be beginning construction later this year. 📸: Melanie D. “I can always add ‘Named the largest gantry crane in Canada’ to my resume’ if needed” Time flies when you're having fun ⏰. This year, we're celebrating 10 years of Big Blue, the 300t gantry crane at Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards which has become a landmark of the North Vancouver waterfront. Just as recognizable as its bright blue beams is its name: Hiyí Skwáyel, meaning “Big Blue” in the Squamish language. Christened by Ella Tinto, a grade 4 student from Boundary Elementary in 2014, the suggestion was chosen from more than 200 submissions from North Van elementary school students who took part in a contest to name the structure. In honour of the 10th anniversary, we invited Ella, and her dad, Tony, back to the shipyards for a tour. Full story with Ella on our website 📖 https://lnkd.in/g9FJFZyE
