I am thrilled to announce that my team, consisting of Akash Choudhary, Kian R., Mark Nguyen, and myself, has been selected as one of the top 3 finalists for Schulich Startup Night 19 in the student founder category! Our product, inspired by shared experiences and challenges faced by students across Canada, aims to address common issues and provide innovative solutions. We are eager to share our vision and introduce our product at Schulich Startups Night. Schulich Startup Night is a prestigious pitch competition where Schulich students and alumni present their business ideas to industry professionals and venture capitalists. I will be pitching our idea on June 13th, starting at 5:30 PM at OneEleven in Toronto. Stay tuned for more updates and wish us luck!

“Opportunities don’t often come along. So when they do, you have to grab them.” - Audrey Hepburn I recently had the extraordinary opportunity to embark on a 2-week study tour in #Chile and #Peru with the Schulich School of Business - York University, focusing on #internationalbusiness and #sustainability. This experience broadened my perspectives in remarkable ways. 3 key takeaways: 1. International Business Landscape Chile and Peru boast vibrant business environments with unique challenges and opportunities. Chile, with its robust mining and energy sectors, plus strong trade policies, is a powerhouse in South America. Peru's rapidly growing economy, driven by mining, agriculture, and tourism, highlights the region's dynamic and diverse nature. 2. Sustainability as a Core Value Sustainability permeated every interaction and site visit. Both countries are diligently addressing environmental challenges while fostering economic growth. Peru’s initiatives to protect its ecosystems, like the Amazon rainforest and rich agricultural exports, and Chile’s investments in renewable energy projects, show how governments and companies are integrating sustainability into their core strategy. 3. Innovation & Technology As an MBA student specializing in technology, I was captivated to see tech and innovation featured prominently in every conversation. We met with startups and major banks, learning how they use technology to tackle issues like climate change, supply chain optimization, portfolio management, and enhanced user experiences. Beyond business insights, immersing in Chilean and Peruvian culture was unforgettable. We explored the bustling streets of #Santiago and #Lima, admired Valparaíso's vibrant street art, and savoured exquisite local cuisine. Also had one day off where I went paragliding and surfing. This journey demonstrated the tight link between business & culture, emphasizing the need for culturally informed strategies and aligning growth with societal impact. I read this Globe & Mail article about Toronto office vacancies hitting an all-time high with disappointment. Filling space has to start with adding value, not bums in seats. In August 2020, I was tapped to lead the reboot of OneEleven, which went defunct during the earliest days of COVID. Within two years under my team's leadership, we rebuilt a unique value add program for startups, and reestablished a premier tech accelerator, recovering to a membership of 40 venture backed portfolio companies that collectively raised $800M in funding. OneEleven was named by Bay Street Bull (now GLORY Media) as one of Canada's 50 Most Impactful Companies (2022), and created ecosystem-leading partnerships, such as a first-of-its-kind venture studio with Schulich MBA in Technology Leadership, and strategic alliances with global accelerators/investors Antler and Techstars. We also re-filled 55,000 sq. feet of premium priced co-working space, in the midst of downtown Toronto commercial real estate vacancies soaring to record highs.
