Well, what a month it's been! At the end of May I was asked by CTV News to produce a one-hour documentary about the repatriation of an unknown Newfoundland soldier. Along the way I worked with great journalists - Omar Sachedina, cinematographer Kirk Neff, editor Paul Flynn. We filmed in France and St. John's, and had the honour of including the song Into the Arms of Home, by the incredible Alan Doyle in the doc. Our program airs this Saturday, June 29 at 7 pm (a timeslot I know very well from my W5 days). The promo is attached. I hope you'll watch.

We are proud to announce that Legion Ontario Command has presented us with a $500,000 donation in support of our PTSD Service Dog program. This donation is made possible through Legion Ontario Command’s Operation Service Dog, which was established in 2018. This partnership provides stability of funding that helps ensure Veterans are paired with Dogs that meet the criteria for a WWC Service Dog, including: - ethical training standards for client and service dog teams - aftercare - financial transparency of training providers - and insurance coverage. Since 2018, Operation Service Dog has paired 61 Veterans with service dogs. Another 27 dogs are currently in training through this amazing program. “It is the hope of the Branches and Ladies’ Auxiliaries of The Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Command that each Service Dog paired with a Veteran improves their quality of life. This donation of a half million dollars will continue making that happen.” — Ontario Provincial President, Derek Moore. We are grateful for the partnership with Ontario Legion Command and look forward to the continued life-changing results. The Royal Canadian Legion

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day where we recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations. Did you know that 4,000 Indigenous people served in the First World War? In fact, communities like Head of the Lake Band in British Columbia saw every man between 20 and 35 years of age enlist. The Second World War saw 3,000 First Nations members, as well as an unknown number of Métis, Inuit and other Indigenous recruits, serving in uniform. Many would go on to receive medals of honour.
