We are thrilled to share that Zeidler team members, Edward Chan, OAA, AIBC, LEAN and Mike Smith, had the honour of attending a ceremony for the Toronto Community Conservation Centre! This event marked the commencement of a transformative construction project and kicked off 50 days of celebrations leading up to the Toronto Zoo's 50th anniversary on August 15th. Designed in association with Jones & Jones Architects Landscape Architects Planners the Toronto Community Conservation Centre includes a new state-of-the-art arrival, entrance and orientation plaza that demonstrates the Zoo’s vision to be Canada’s leader in wildlife conservation. The project will be an immersive environment, encouraging exploration by visitors of all abilities. We also worked closely with Two Row Architect as our Indigenous consultant for engagement and to incorporate Indigenous principles into the design. Toronto Community Conservation Centre will become a beacon of conservation science with a river otter habitat and endangered turtle conservation breeding centre to provide an educational gateway for zoo visitors. Spectacular day for a burn! We’re thrilled to be hosting a team from Quasar Consulting Group at the nVent Thermal Management plant in Trenton, ON, for a manufacturing process tour and fire-test demonstration on System 1850 fire-resistive cabling. There really is no substitute for witnessing the furnace test in person to get a sense of how the cable performs, and to understand what is - and isn’t! - covered by the codes, standards and test procedures that govern the product category. Plus, walking any manufacturing floor scratches that “how it’s made” itch. If you’re an electrical engineer working on construction projects, particularly in the healthcare, long-term care or transit sectors in Ontario, interested in electrical life-safety infrastructure, and like specifying products that support local manufacturing jobs, we’d love to show you what we can do. The centre was made possible entirely thanks to donors who donated $6 million through the Love, Scarborough campaign. The Centre ensures inclusive, stigma-free mental health care for the diverse community. By bringing together outpatient adult mental health services into a warm, welcoming community setting, SHN is breaking down barriers and transforming the narrative around mental health support! Donors, SHN team members, the Hon. Doug Ford, the Hon. Sylvia Jones, and other government officials joined us to celebrate this significant milestone!
