Our team is still buzzing from a week full of learning and connecting with our community in Victoria, BC. We were honoured to be part of the teaching team for the inaugural UVic Impact Investing Hub Summer School intensive, which intersected with the #VictoriaForum (more reflections about the summer school soon). In particular, we were thrilled to see many students, Propel alum, and partners come out to our Tuesday evening social at theDock - Centre for Social Impact! The team at theDock went absolutely above and beyond to make the evening feel so special. Thank you to (FES) Finance Engage Sustain | Financer Engager Soutenir for providing the resources for us to host five community socials across Canada this summer - we had a blast!

It's the final week of our annual Impact Investing Competition! On Thursday, over 60 Fellows will be presenting their investment analyses and recommendations on Nectar Technologies. Nectar is a Montreal-based tech startup addressing the modern challenges of pollination by developing both software and hardware to improve the health of bee colonies. Since 2016, Nectar has been hard at work developing machine learning models that help predict the outcomes of bee colonies and provide vital insights to ensure the health of bees. Approximately 35% of the world's crops are partially dependent on pollinators. Nectar has recognized the importance of bees on our systems and has built technology to support the apiculture industry. Propel Impact is proud to be working with Nectar as our educational partner for this year's competition!

The Propel Impact Team is excited to announce the kickoff of the Propel Impact Investing Competition! During this five-week competition, over 60 Propel Impact Investing Fellows from across Canada will work in teams to analyze and perform diligence on a real impact-driven venture, leveraging the standard investment process used throughout the Impact Investing Fellowship. Competition Details: 🚀 Experiential education in practice - Learn by undertaking a live deal process with Fellows from all Propel Impact Funds. 🚀 Real-time learning - Fellows will complete modules on core aspects of the investment process, including financial modeling, competitive analysis, and market analysis during the competition. 🚀 A culminating pitch - At the end of the challenge, teams will submit their investment memo and pitch their recommendation to the Investment Committee, a national panel of expert impact investors. This year, we are excited to partner with Nectar as our educational partner for the Competition. Nectar Technologies is a Montreal-based pollination software startup that is working to minimize hive mortality rates and promote greater biodiversity. Nectar currently supports over 180,000 hives to provide beekeepers with vital insights on the health of the bee colonies and their operations. Keep an eye out for upcoming announcements about Nectar and the judges!
