The Canada Infrastructure Bank/ Banque de l'infrastructure du Canada is making a historic investment in the Port of Prince Rupert with a $150 million loan for the first phase of CANXPORT, formerly the Ridley Island Export Logistics Project. This new export logistics hub will expand capacity and capabilities for rail-to-container transloading of multiple export products, improve Canadian supply chains, and drive trade and economic growth. The project’s scale, unit train capabilities, and integration into existing container terminal operations will facilitate substantial opportunities to exporters that enhance intermodal supply chains and ways to reach international markets. CANXPORT will transform rail-to-container transloading at the Port of #PrinceRupert. Last week, BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Rob Fleming and North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice were given a glimpse at how operations will be scaled-up at the future export logistics facility. They toured Ray-Mont Logistics current transloading site on Ridley Island, seeing how crews transfer bulk cargoes from hopper cars into shipping containers, destined for global markets. The Port of Prince Rupert is a critical gateway to global markets for Alberta’s energy, agricultural, and forestry products. With a grant from the Government of Alberta, the Prince Rupert Port Authority is coordinating a forum that will bring together supply chain partners, industry, and community stakeholders along the highway and rail corridor that connects Alberta's Industrial Heartland and the Port. Together, we will proactively identify and analyze strategic opportunities and challenges to enhance efficiency and expand market access: https://bit.ly/3VhWgM3 Thanks to Alberta's Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors Devin Dreeshen for touring the Gateway this week to see firsthand the diverse products being shipped from his province through our Port to customers around the world. #StrengtheningSupplyChains Alberta's Industrial Heartland Association #GrowingTrade #PrinceRupert
