Cheers to 9 years! On July 30, 2015 PortsToronto opened the award-winning 853-ft pedestrian tunnel to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, connecting Toronto’s mainland to the island terminal. The pedestrian tunnel is powered with renewable electricity and provides travellers with a fast, reliable and convenient way to access the airport.

Yesterday I wrote to Toronto City Council to express very real concern over continued delays in the renegotiation of the Tripartite Agreement governing Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. It is essential that Billy Bishop Airport be able to operate with certainty and stability well into the future to enable financing of necessary upgrades to better serve the transportation needs of Toronto region residents and businesses. As I’ve indicated many times — including very recently — I’m a huge supporter of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. YTZ is more than just a transit hub; it’s a critical asset that enhances our city's appeal to businesses and visitors alike. That’s why I’ve joined 45 leaders across Canada to write an open letter advocating for the airport’s sustained operation and development. This collective effort underscores the vital role the airport plays in facilitating travel, driving economic growth, supporting medical access, and connecting communities. The maintenance and enhancement of BBTCA is crucial to support these essential functions. Join me in supporting YTZ. #onpoli #cdnpoli https://lnkd.in/gh6nVj8F.
