I had the incredible opportunity to give a #keynote at the Elevate Conference in Toronto, and wow, what an experience it was! Growing up in a small town near Barcelona, surrounded by nature, my father and I would grow our own food in the family garden. That upbringing shaped my perspective on fresh, local produce, and it’s something I’ve carried with me throughout my life. Standing in front of a room full of innovators and founders, I talked about how our food systems are broken. #SupplyChains are fragile, #foodWaste is skyrocketing, and access to fresh produce is limited. But it doesn’t have to be this way. At Plantaform™, we’re bringing the farm into people’s homes. Imagine growing your own food indoors, effortlessly. This is a very special moment for us, Yesterday, I stood at our HQ, watching as buckets of freshly harvested produce were prepared for donation to a cause that perfectly aligns with our vision of feeding the world of the future. While our indoor gardens may not yet be accessible to everyone, their true purpose—growing fresh, healthy food—should be. And that’s why food accessibility is at the heart of what we do. Every Wednesday, we donate all the produce from our R&D lab to two incredible local organizations, the CRC Rideau-Rockcliffe CRC and Ottawa Good Food Box, both of which are fighting to make a difference in our community. At Plantaform™, we’ve committed to donating hundreds of pounds of freshly harvested produce every year. It’s incredible to see our R&D efforts not only push the boundaries of what’s possible with indoor agriculture but also directly contribute to helping those in need. Standing there, it was a humbling reminder that our vision is becoming a reality—one harvest, one donation at a time. Our journey has been full of challenges and triumphs, but moments like this make it all worth it. The future we dreamed of is starting to take shape, and I’m proud to be part of it.
