On June 14th, a beloved member of the Parlee McLaws (Calgary) family retired. After 25 years with the Firm, David Walker was given a retirement reception attended by most in the Calgary office. We wish David well as he transitions to retirement and returns to the East Coast where he grew up. David will be greatly missed by his work family. #parleepeople

Last week I had the pleasure of attending this event, which brought together so many amazing women and health care providers. The energy and excitement in the room was empowering and I am so proud to be the Co-chair of the Loi’s Hole Hospital Women’s Society with the incredible Vanessa Lancaster. A huge thank you to Sharlene Rutherford, MBA and all of the team at Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation for enabling us to continue our mission to engage and support women in all ages and stages of life and to Alberta Blue Cross for their unwavering belief that the Between Us series could grow to reach thousands of women and have a positive and meaningful impact on our health through knowledge. If anyone wants to become involved and volunteer with us or just hear about what we’re doing and what we’re raising money for, let me know, we love to connect with you!
Last week we celebrated a major milestone in fundraising achievement by the Lois Hole Hospital Women’s Society. This group of volunteers has surpassed one million dollars to advance women’s health at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women. It’s more than just a financial milestone; it’s a powerful testament to the impact made on the lives of women in our community and beyond. The state-of-the-art facilities and advanced treatment options the Women’s Society has helped to fund will continue to transform patient outcomes for years to come, ensuring women have access to the specialized healthcare they need for healthier futures. I wish to express my sincere thanks to the society’s founding co-chairs, Melanie Nakatsui and Krista Ference, who then passed the torch to the incredible Lisa Diamond, who led the Women’s Society during the challenge of the pandemic. Lisa has now handed the reins over to two amazing leaders, Rhiannon Adams and Vanessa Lancaster, who continue to propel our mission forward. What an exceptional group of strong female leaders. I am grateful to you all.
