Throughout my job search, finding an opportunity to write #DocumentationThatMatters was high on my list. When I landed at CarteNav (a PAL company) back in April, I felt that I’d ticked that box. In week 1, my first doc assignment was to prepare a doc for “DCCG”. At the time, I didn’t even know what DCCG was. (So many acronyms 🤯). Now, in Week 11, I’m more confident than ever that I am writing for a product that makes a difference in the world.

On Monday morning, the Maritime Operations Center of the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard Area received an emergency call about a vessel in distress that capsized 74 miles offshore of Aruba. The PAL Aerospace-operated Coast Guard Dash 8 aircraft was immediately deployed to recon the area and confirmed a capsized vessel with two people onboard. A Coast Guard helicopter was sent to the location to rescue the two individuals, who were safely transported to Aruba.
