About us

Save-On-Foods is a Jim Pattison business with a legacy of outstanding value and customer service that dates back more than 100 years to its start in 1915. Originally named the Overwaitea Food Group for the founder’s practice of selling 18 ounces of tea for the price of 16, the store became known as the ‘overweight-tea’ store. With almost 22,000 team members throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon, Save-On-Foods is more than just a great place to shop—it’s a great place to work. Save-On-Foods is one of Western Canada’s largest employers and consistently ranks among B.C.’s Most Loved Brands. Supporting local communities is the foundation of the Save-On-Foods brand. Combined with its supplier partners, team members and generous customers, Save-On-Foods has donated more than $40 million to children’s hospitals, and contributes $3 million in donations to food banks across Western Canada each year. Save-On-Foods is committed to its core values of service, people, innovation, fun and integrity and strives to be the most loved and trusted employer, partner, corporate citizen and retailer in Canada by delivering Always Customer First service. We are thrilled to announce that we have met our $15 million pledge made to BC Children's Hospital Foundation in 2016, two years early! To celebrate, yesterday, close to 400 of our assistant store managers from across Western Canada helped us set a new Guinness World Record assembling the most care packages for a hospital in one hour. Each care package contains nine items that will provide hygiene, comfort and entertainment to young patients at BCCH. Save-On-Foods is so proud to officially be the new record holder after putting together 4,007 care packages – far exceeding the previous record of 2,522. We look forward to continuing our partnership with BCCH and details of our next pledge will be announced later this fall. “This milestone was made possible by millions of people – our incredible team members, generous customers, and amazing supplier and business partners – and together, we’ve helped enable the experts at BC Children’s Hospital to provide their life-changing care and research," said Save-On-Foods president Darrell Jones. "Thank you to each and every person who helped Save-On-Foods achieve our pledge.” Read more: https://shorturl.at/kRVjC

Four years ago, James Lam got his start at Save-On-Foods Tsawwassen as a general clerk. With his strong business acumen, passion for achieving results, and leadership, he has quickly progressed in our company. Today, James is the store manager at Save-On-Foods Yorkton in Saskatchewan and is committed to running an operationally excellent store. He's a hands-on leader who is driven to succeed in providing exceptional customer service. We asked James what makes him excited to work for Save-On-Foods, and this is what he said, "I find the grocery industry exciting because it changes every day. Just when you think you’ve got it mastered, a flash flood, hyperinflation, or something comes out of nowhere. I also love how Save-On-Foods responds to adversity and how we as a team can weather any storm." #SaveOnFoods #WorldClassTeam Pattison Food Group

Exciting News! We’re thrilled to share that since March of this year, we’ve been working with IBEXComm Import Export Inc to introduce a fantastic selection of Brazilian products to Save-On-Foods! Our journey began with the successful launch of our Brazilian products at Save On Foods in Park & Tilford in March. Since then, we’ve expanded to Save On Foods locations in Burnaby and New Westminster, and just last Friday, we proudly launched at the newest location in Surrey. 🛒 The response has been phenomenal, with brisk sales and enthusiastic feedback from both the Brazilian community and Canadian shoppers. It’s a true testament to the appeal and quality of our offerings. 🌍 Our shelves are now stocked with over 40 products, including Guaraná, tapioca, cassava flour, and many more! 😋 We’re incredibly proud to represent Brazilian culture and excited to contribute to this vibrant market. A heartfelt thank you to our partners and customers for your unwavering support and enthusiasm! A special shoutout to Joel Dela Cruz for his strategic planning and dedication, making sure that Save On Foods is not only “saving” Brazilian flavours for everyone to enjoy but also “saving” you money with great prices! 😄 And a big thanks to Ken Clark for making all the crucial connections that made this possible. 🙌 Here’s to continuing to share the rich flavours of Brazil with our Canadian friends! 🌎❤️ #FoodBroker #BrazilianProducts #Ibex #SaveOnFoods #CulturalDiversity #InternationalFlavours #FoodIndustry Lance Yacoboski, Mark Yacoboski, Fabiane Stein, Mariana Carvalho, Ludimila Zari Furchini, Paula Harned Luiz Gustavo Branco, Gustavo Luz Barreto

Today we’re spotlighting assistant operations manager at Save-On-Foods Orchard Plaza in Kelowna, Eric Falkenberg. Eric has spent the last 15 years honing his skill as an expert display builder. Responsible for some of the most impressive displays that have been built across our company, Eric’s amazing creations have seen him and his team win a total of eight CFIG Master Merchandiser awards over the years. Not only has he received several industry awards, but his displays often garner media attention for their realism and larger-than-life presence in the store. With almost 50 displays to his name, it’s no surprise that as a kid, Lego was one of Eric’s favourite toys. We asked Eric what he loves most about his job: “The team we have formed and the team members who work here, and having the freedom and support to come up with all these ideas.” #SaveOnFoods #TeamMemberSpotlight
