It’s very special for me to return to UrbanArts Toronto on the 20th anniversary of Culture Fest in the great Weston neighborhood. Ontario Arts Council | Conseil des arts de l'Ontario has proudly provided UrbanArts annual support for over 25 years as they pursue their mission in the arts in such crucial neighborhoods in and surrounding the former city of York. UrbanArts is one of the key OAC supported organizations that brought over 4 million arts education participants out to programs across the province in 2022-23. In Prescott tonight to see "Play On! A Shakespeare Inspired Mixtape" (featuring a local band!) at St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, a theatre funded by Ontario Arts Council | Conseil des arts de l'Ontario. Had a wonderful chat with the company about their upcoming plans, transition into new leadership roles, and new efforts to increase culture and tourism in the city. Earlier this morning, got to have some more fulsome discussion with the folks at Odyssey Theatre and Ottawa Fringe Festival.
