Last night I learned how Michelle Cowell and Michael Lee-Chin are leveraging #nuclear #energy to treat #cancer and reduce our dependency on fossil fuel, which we know has terrible #environmental and #health impacts. I had no idea how versatile nuclear was and the #impact it could create. 💡 Fun fact: At the Investor Forum I learned that #Canada is a #leader in the nuclear #industry as the proud owner of the 2nd largest nuclear power plant in the world!! Based out of our very own #Ontario. As we look forward to #investing into #innovative alternatives outside of fossil fuel, what are your thoughts about leaning more into the nuclear #space?

Its a wrap! Another Black Innovation Zone activation ✅️ This year at Elevate, we distributed over 250 sponsored tickets to Black Innovators 🎉 From Collision to Elevate, it's honestly been an adventure leading the project management for the Black Innovation Zone! All on the side of my desk with an entire #Jamaican delegation of course 😆 This initiative started by simply pooling our #resources together to increase #access for Black Innovators at major conferences where we were often #underrepresented. As leaders running multiple accelerators, we truly listened to the needs and pain points of our startups, then created a #safespace where we could support them to achieve their #goals. The #Black #innovation #zone truly reflects team work and collaboration. Leveraging our unique strengths to create #meaningful #impact. When we work together, magic happens and the #community feels it ✨️ Huge thank you to our sponsors Doug Minter Canadian Black Chamber of Commerce, Yinka Adesesan DMZ, Sagal Abdi BlackNorth Initiative, Craig Wellington Black Opportunity Fund for your patience as we worked through some intense deadlines together 😅 thank you for believing in the vision and for the work that you do as leaders to pave the way for the next generation 🙏🏾 Stay tuned for what's next at the BIZ, we've got some exciting plans in store 🥳 #Community | #Black #Innovation | #WomenInSTEM | Launching 100 Black-owned Businesses in STEM by 2025 🚀

💡 Unlocking Growth & Building Bridges 💡 On October 4th, we wrapped up Black Women in Tech Week with a powerful roundtable hosted by BDC, where our Jamaican Delegates, along with other women entrepreneurs, explored key topics like scaling businesses, strategic planning, and unlocking growth potential. The discussions were rich with insights, paving the way for future success! 🎯 We were honoured to have the Consul General of Jamaica, Kurt Davis, share his wisdom and how his office supports entrepreneurs, making the event even more special. 🙌🏾 A huge thank you to BDC team Fatiha Senhaji (PL.Fin), Sola Oluwole, PMP, M.Sc, and Rowda Mohamud for facilitating this impactful session. Your expertise was invaluable! Let’s also give it up for our hardworking Jamaican Delegates and ecosystem leaders Alexia Beckford and Giovanni Maddix for their ongoing support and partnership throughout the week. None of this would’ve been possible without the Development Bank of Jamaica Limited, whose sponsorship of this 2024 cohort helped make Black Women in Tech Week a success. This is just the beginning—big things are on the horizon! 🌍💼✨ #Nobellum2024 #BlackWomenInTech #JamaicanDelegation #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #TorontoEvents

Thank you Nobellum for such an amazing opportunity!! It’s truly an honour to have won the grand prize! Thank you #roadmapstobillions for believing in Knee2Me. We are so so grateful and can’t wait to see what the future holds as we work to bring Knee2Me to life🥳
On September 30th, we had the incredible opportunity to attend Roadmap to Billions, an inspiring event filled with impactful conversations, networking opportunities, and the spark of new connections. Our Jamaican Delegates had the chance to engage with incredible #womenintech, exchanging ideas and building relationships that will shape the future of #entrepreneurship. 🇯🇲✨ A highlight of the event was watching two of our Nobellum Founders win the pitch competition. Congratulations to Knee2Me for winning first place and to Med Melanin for securing second place! The winners received $20,000 and a brand new Dell TV 🥳 A special shoutout to Alexia Beckford, who moderated the powerful panel "Unleash the Power of Data: Data-Driven Decisions that Power Success," and to our very own Founder & CEO, Melisa Ellis, who lent her expertise as a judge in the pitch competition. 🙌🏾 As proud sponsors of this incredible event, we are honored to support a platform that uplifts and empowers Black women in tech. #RoadmaptoBillions is more than just a conference; it’s a space where innovation thrives, community is strengthened, and opportunities are created for Black women entrepreneurs to shine. A big thank you to Black Women Talk Tech for hosting such a transformative event, designed to celebrate and champion Black women in tech.
