Moment Energy - Repurpose, Recharge, Reimagine
About us
Want to save the world? So do we. That’s why we started Moment Energy, a cleantech company that’s helping to build a sustainable economy through battery energy storage systems made from repurposed electric vehicle batteries. We keep people’s lights on, and their batteries from ending up in landfills. As an impact-driven organization, Moment's goal is to provide a reliable and environmentally friendly battery energy storage system for our customers. We’re the only Canadian company working with Nissan North America, Mercedes Benz Energy and other world renowned automakers to repurpose their EV batteries. We're a proud Canadian-owned and operated company founded by four tech entrepreneurs, with a mission to provide worldwide access to clean, reliable and affordable power. Our solution helps off-grid customers reduce diesel consumption and transition to renewables, and also provides peak shaving and backup power for commercial and industrial customers. Moment Energy was recognized as the Grand Prize Winner of the 2021 National Impact Investor Challenge held by Spring Activator in June 2021. On October 4th, 2021, we placed third in the 2021 New Ventures BC Competition, British Columbia’s largest annual tech startup competition. We’re a fast-paced, VC-funded company backed by major Canadian and US Venture Capital and Climate Funds including Version One Ventures and Fika Ventures.

Really great to chat with Sumreen Rattan who is at the forefront of decarbonised mobility! Her company Moment Energy is creating a circular economy for EV batteries, repurposing retired vehicle batteries into affordable, clean, reliable battery energy storage systems (B.E.S.S). What sets Moment Energy apart? They are the only company in North America to earn the UL 1974 certification, assuring the condition, safety and energy capacity of each battery. Know a cool startup in sustainable mobility we should chat with in the next CoMotion Innovators? Reach out to me and Daniel Eppstein.

Thank you #VTJTalks for putting together an inspiring and insightful panel of BC Women Leading in Climatetech! 🌍 Moderated by Sarah Goodman, CEO at CICE who crafted an engaging conversation, we heard from Bethany Ladd, Co-founder and Head of Operations, Arca Climate, Kim Haakstad, VP of Stakeholder Relations at Miraterra, Sumreen Rattan, Co-founder and COO at Moment Energy, and Jennifer Anderson, Partner at Renewal Funds. In a packed room with an involved audience, we discussed the challenges and opportunities for women in a sector that remains gender imbalanced. Some key points were having the confidence to ask for as much funding as male-led companies, doing your homework on your competitors to ensure you're not being shortchanged (a persistent issue with female founders), and signs of hope as we see start to see more diversity in cleantech. As so eloquently put by the panel, solving the climate crisis is going to take the entire team, so let’s make sure we are all allies! ❤️ #Cleantech, #climatetech, #RBCx, #VTJ, #WomenInSTEM, #GirlsInEngineering, Moment Energy, Miraterra Inc., Arca, Renewal Funds, B.C.
