Today is World Population Day, an annual event established in 1989 by the UN to raise awareness on population issues and the importance of planning infrastructure to serve societies. Home to over 1.5 million people, Peel Region's population is expected to exceed 1.75 million by 2031. As Mississauga and Brampton continue to grow, so too must the options for convenient and affordable transportation. The New Hazel McCallion Line will help connect Brampton and Mississauga with 19 stops along Hurontario stretching 18 kilometres. The new walking and bike paths planned will also help pedestrians stay safe while on Hurontario Street. #WorldPopulationDay #PeelRegion #HazelMcCallionLine

With all the recent development and construction on the Hazel McCallion Line, remember to still shop at your favourite businesses along Hurontario! It’s important to support local shops, especially during construction impacts to driveways and roads. Once complete the new Hazel McCallion Line will help traffic towards these businesses by improving public transit for those across the Peel Region. Until then, remember to stop by your favourite retailers, restaurants and cafes!

The new Eaglewood Bridge has opened as of today. By increasing ease of traffic flow while also keeping in mind safety, the new bridge at Eaglewood Boulevard in Mississauga will help connect communities east and west of Hurontario and provide access to Port Credit Station. The bridge at Inglewood Drive will begin to be decommissioned and demolished later this week. #Eaglewood #Mississauga #Mobilinx

Here are some of most recent drone footage of the ongoing progress at the Elevated Guideway at Highway 403! These aerial shots give a great view of just how much hard work the crews have put in. The guideway will be a critical point of entrance to City Centre Station, helping commuters in and out of the area. The team is committed to bring efficient, innovative and most importantly safe transit to users in Peel Region. #HazelMcCallionLine #Mississauga #Hwy403 #Brampton

Throughout our construction, our crews take time to freshen up line markings along the corridor, ensuring proper lane usage and an overall better aesthetic. The work is done at night to ensure there is minimal disruption to those traveling along Hurontario Street, especially during bustling times. #HazelMcCallionLine #construction

Safety is top of mind for us at Mobilinx. Our team implemented new traffic and controls inspection procedures to ensure through a Mobilinx-made digital application for people to drive safely along the corridor. The procedure includes a list of daily inspections of sidewalks, fences, barricades, traffic devices, work zones and equipment that are done to ensure operations are safely executed every day. Going digital has allowed us to be quicker and more accurate with our safety checks, allowing us to continue to progress in the construction of the #HazelMcCallionLine

We are proud to announce that our partner John Laing and The John Laing Charitable Trust is providing scholarships to six Black, Indigenous and People of Colour through Achev. The scholarships will provide each recipient the opportunity to develop skills that are applicable to the nature of our work at Mobilinx. We look forward to seeing where this initiative takes us.
John Laing continues supporting local communities where our assets are being developed. Work on the new 18-kilometre Hazel McCallion Light Rail Transit (LRT) development is well underway in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Working with our partner Mobilinx, John Laing will be supporting an important initiative with Achēv that aims to provide skills development and employment for black, indigenous, and other people of colour (BIPOC) youth individuals in the area. Through a joint donation from The John Laing Charitable Trust and John Laing, six scholarships will be given to youth to enrol in the Achēv Skilled Workers Programme to begin on 1 April. Achēv is a leading charitable organisation committed to making a positive difference in the diverse communities that they serve by delivering skills development, employment, newcomer, language, and youth services.

We are pleased to announce that we reached 5 million hours without a lost time injury, while maintaining an average of 700 employees working consistently on the project. The milestone was achieved as a group effort and was only done so through the hard work and dedication to safety by all Mobilinx staff. While the ongoing construction presents unique challenges both big and small on a day-to-day, task-to-task basis, our safety team is at the forefront of making sure safety is top of mind for all of our employees.
