Ever wonder what keeps #MetroVancouver taps and pipes running smoothly? 💧 Watch the incredible feats of engineering happening underground and behind the scenes — like lifting a whole wastewater treatment plant roof, tunneling beneath the ocean, and lowering a tunnel boring machine deep underground. It’s all part of how we deliver clean drinking water, treat liquid waste, and protect our environment. Check out this video, narrated by Uytae Lee from About Here, and explore Metro Vancouver’s hidden network of water and wastewater infrastructure: https://lnkd.in/gkC_BZ7U

On September 30, we observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Day/Orange Shirt Day, commemorating the children lost to residential schools, as well as the survivors, their families, and communities. Metro Vancouver acknowledges that the region is within the territories of 10 local First Nations including that of q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), máthxwi (Matsqui), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), qiqéyt (Qayqayt), Semiahmoo, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), scəw̓aθən məsteyəxʷ (Tsawwassen), and səlilwətaɬ(Tsleil-Waututh). Metro Vancouver recognizes our collective role in reconciliation as a public-serving entity, and we are committed to continuous reflection and education as we build and strengthen our relationships with Indigenous people. AEDs save lives. We recently installed three AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) along the Grouse Grind Trail at the 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 marks to enhance public safety. 🙌 These publicly accessible devices feature both verbal prompts and visual step-by-step instructions, ensuring they are user-friendly for anyone in an emergency. Medical responses are coordinated closely with first responders and partner agencies including the District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services, North Shore Rescue, BC Ambulance Service, and Grouse Mountain Resort. The AEDs, housed in weatherproof cabinets, were added as a proactive measure to support emergency medical response as the Grouse Grind Trail is a steep and challenging alpine trail with 800 metres of elevation gain spanning a stretch of 2.5 km. This initiative underscores our commitment to enhancing safety for outdoor enthusiasts on this popular trail. Remember, calling 9-1-1 is always the first step if you see someone in cardiac arrest, but the AEDs provide an additional tool to help. Happy hiking! Learn more:  https://lnkd.in/g_d_fctv
