Our Health and Safety Committee invited the Fire Department from the Corporation of the Town of Prescott to our headquarters to train our team on the proper use of a fire extinguisher. The firefighters brought a propane firebox and taught the PASS method (pull, aim, squeeze and sweep). Most of us had never used a fire extinguisher, and we left with new skills and confidence in an emergency. Thank you to the Prescott Fire Department for sharing their expertise to help us be safer at home and work.

On Friday, July 19, Our Administration Team hosted a BBQ lunch at our Prescott headquarters. In addition to serving hamburgers, hot dogs, salad, and ice cream, they also had whipped cream pies on hand, but not for eating. The Admin Team was inspired to raise money while having some laughs with our coworkers. They sold the pies for $20 each and invited Managers and Supervisors to “TAKE ONE FOR THEIR COMMUNITY”. There was lots of enthusiasm for the fundraiser, and after 35 pies were thrown, $700 was gathered to donate to the South Grenville (SG) Food Bank Thank you to everyone who bought a pie and especially to the good sports who got one in the face.

Today, we celebrated Phil Patterson's 60th birthday. Starting at Kriska in June 1987, he's been a fun friend and colleague for 37 years and is always up for a laugh. As a lifelong athlete it's tough to pull a joke on Phil. He's an inductee of the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame, played in the Memorial Cup after 4 years in the OHL, played professional hockey in the US and Europe and recently secured a spot in the Ontario Senior Championship after an impressive 69-stroke game of golf. But we hit him with a pie full of whipped cream and love. Happy Birthday, Phil!

Our Mississauga terminal was a hive of activity today. We hosted a BBQ lunch, visited with old colleagues and welcomed the KTG Safety Manager meeting. We're lucky to enjoy lunch and laughs together with friends and coworkers.

This July, we’re wishing our transportation wizards a warm work anniversary. Every day they commit their talent and time to moving our trucks and the economy. Once again, we're happy to have helped Trucks For Change Network and Project FoodChain in their effort to deliver bottled water to the unhoused during the hot summer months. This collaboration will provide crucial access to water to those in need across the Greater Toronto Area this summer. Congratulations to Kriska Holdings Ltd. driver Sean Walsh on his winning performance at this weekend's truck driving championships!

This past Saturday, our professional drivers, Richard Maciejewski, Kevin Tetreault and Sean Walsh, participated in the Ontario Regional Truck Driving Competition. After a full day of weaving through obstacles, testing their knowledge of road rules, and a tricky pre-trip inspection, the team enjoyed a fun evening with their peers at the awards banquet. We're proud to announce that Sean Walsh won 2nd in the Tandem-tandem category, and Kevin placed 4th in the B-Train group and both will represent Kriska at the Ontario championships in September. Congrats to all!
