Kraken Robotics Completes Successful Demonstrations of Autonomous Launch and Recovery System (ALARS) for KATFISH™ We’re pleased to announce the successful completion of demonstrations for our new Autonomous Launch and Recovery System (ALARS) for KATFISH, our state-of-the-art towed synthetic aperture sonar (SAS). From October 21-25, 2024, in Halifax Harbour, Nova Scotia, over 40 naval customers and partners had the opportunity to see the system in action. “The ocean is an unforgiving environment, and the highest risk to technology and personnel is during launch and recovery. Demo participants were able to witness our technology in action, observing both the advanced autonomy of the ALARS as well as the high-resolution real-time SAS data from KATFISH while aboard the vessel.” Greg Reid, Kraken’s President and CEO. ALARS is a game-changer in autonomous maritime technology, designed to reduce risk and enhance efficiency for underwater missions. By pairing ALARS with KATFISH’s real-time, high-resolution SAS data, Kraken Robotics is pushing the boundaries of safe and efficient subsea operations. "With underwater robotics, there are always design trade-offs between size, weight, power and cost requirements,” said Greg Reid, President and CEO of Kraken Robotics. “To increase endurance, designers typically need to increase the size and weight of a vehicle. But with Kraken's SeaPower batteries, they can get the best of both worlds, providing some of the highest energy density and most cost-effective subsea energy storage systems available." Kraken Robotics is pleased to announce that we’ve received $13 million in subsea battery orders. Rated for depths up to 6,000 meters, Kraken’s subsea batteries provide up to twice the energy density and weigh 46% less per kWh than traditional pressure-housed batteries. Kraken’s Miniature Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Sonar (MINSAS) was evaluated by five NATO navies at the annual Portuguese Navy Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems (REPMUS) exercise, which took place in Sesimbra and Troia, Portugal from September 9-27, 2024. “REPMUS has been an invaluable experience for our team at Kraken, providing the opportunity to work directly with end-user navies, demonstrate the capabilities of MINSAS, support the rapid processing of data from multiple missions, and get real-time feedback from users that we can integrate into our product roadmap,” said Greg Reid, President and CEO of Kraken Robotics. “Our team supported integration of SAS modules on several different UUV configurations including legacy REMUS systems that were more than 10 years old, the U.S. Navy’s MK-18 Mod 1, REMUS 100 NGR, and a Gavia vehicle. This illustrates the versatility of our technology to be rapidly deployed and exchanged between both new and legacy platforms, providing a significant capability enhancement for mine countermeasure operations from UUVs.” For the full announcement, read our News Release: https://lnkd.in/eN5VDSUC Learn more about MINSAS: https://lnkd.in/e9PsA97w Marinha Portuguesa - Página Oficial #KrakenRobotics #WeAreNATO #REPMUS24 #MaritimeUnmannedSystems #InnovationTechnologies #InnovationNATO #ArtificialIntelligence #StrongerTogether
