‘This competitor is always eating our lunch’… devastating words to hear. ESPECIALLY if it isn’t true. Devin Reed had experience with this, and after doing research looking into their data they saw that the competitor was actually only coming up about 5% of the time. It was a loudest rep in the room problem. And once you start making GTM decisions based on the loudest voice (or worse yet, gut feel)... well, you might as well just work blindfolded.

Competing over the last chip, we get it. But at Compete Week, we want people to lay down the swords and com(pet)e TOGETHER in-person for the first time. Because bringing the compete community together is what Compete Week is all about. Learning from people at the top of their field about the best practices of product marketing and competitive intelligence. Then you can go back to battling over that last chip when it’s over. There are two things you need to do to start writing better battlecards 👇 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 What is a comparison? A lot of compete pros deliver competitive facts in isolation. That means nothing to your sellers. These facts need to be framed as ‘Us vs. Them’. A fact like ‘They offer multi-currency support’ is useful intelligence, but what does it mean in a competitive deal? How can the seller use this? By framing it like ‘Their complex currency offering vs. our focused North American solution’ sets up the comparison for you to go into the WHY quicker. Now it’s time for an action. But what are actions? Actions can include: 🗺️ Discovery questions 🪤 Trap setting questions 🔀 Redirect statements ❗️ Objection handling 🗣️ Testimonial/proof sharing They’re more than just a talk track that a seller regurgitates - they’re a technique a seller can leverage. An example of a discovery question would be: ‘Do you have a significant portion of your business operations outside of North America?’ It’s setting up the prospect to think more about what they need and frames it as us vs. them in your seller’s mind.
