#DidYouKnow we have partnered with the New England Aquarium for 26 years to support efforts to protect the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale? In addition to fieldwork including photo identification and health monitoring, our support has helped researchers from the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life to expand their work to include the use of drones. Earlier this spring in Cape Cod Bay, MA, researchers collected blow samples with drones for hormone analysis. The blow collection will continue into the summer in the Gulf of St. Lawrence where they will also collect photographic measurements with a drone. These new methods will expand existing health monitoring abilities in a minimally invasive way. Thank you to the team, the New England Aquarium, and to all our partners for the important work you do, every day. 📸: New England Aquarium taken under NOAA permit #25739

Bobby Breau remembers the days when our company’s founder, K.C. Irving, would come to shake the hands of Irving Oil employees each holiday season. Bobby – who started working with our company as a stove oil helper on a truck at the age of 17 – has worked with our company for 53 years. “There’s a lot of good memories,” says Bobby, who now drives a fuel truck based in Saint John, NB. “I’m glad to be here. It’s an honour to continue serving our customers after all these years.” Thank you, Bobby, and to all our dedicated Professional Drivers for everything you do to serve our customers safely every day. When Kim Prior, a Loyalty Marketing Specialist with our team in Portsmouth, NH, met Bonnie Pelton while volunteering at the Special Olympics Summer Games several years ago, she knew she had made a special connection and a lifelong friend. "She has the most positive attitude and an infectious smile," says Kim, who has been an avid volunteer with Special Olympics New Hampshire for more than 15 years. “I don’t think a single person could meet Bonnie and not smile along with her.” As years passed, Bonnie, who is deaf, remained in Kim's heart. Inspired, Kim gradually learned sign language with the hope of one day surprising Bonnie by communicating with her in her own language. This year, when our Portsmouth team helped officiate the bocce ball event, Kim was excited to show Bonnie what she had learned, signing “Hello Bonnie, nice to see you.” "She lit right up and gave me the most genuine and warm hug, neither of us in a rush to let go," Kim says. Kim is proud to be one of a growing number of employees taking part in our employee giving and volunteering program, with 37% participation across our company as we aim to reach 50% by 2030. "There's a sincerity at the events that makes you reflect on the beautiful things in life, and you just feel grateful," she says of the Special Olympics event. "You have no idea how volunteering can create a ripple effect, and where the experience can lead you." Thank you, Kim, and to all our employees for continuing to make a difference in our communities. The view from Boston Harbor 🌊
Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, work seems to follow you on vacation. That’s the New England, one of Irving Oil’s time charter vessels, viewed up close and personal from our sailing tour of Boston Harbor. The vessle was departing after delivering refined products to our Revere terminal.
