As we continue celebrating our 25th anniversary, today's memory post takes us on a nostalgic journey through the many incredible Incite Nites and team retreats we've enjoyed over the years. INCITE Nites have become a cherished tradition, held about four times a year. We've bonded through scavenger hunts around Edmonton, random challenges, Cranks & Dranks (bike pub crawl), dinners, games and bowling. Our annual team retreats and mid-year retreats also feature an Incite Nite, blending strategic planning with activities that keep us connected and energized. "Culture eats strategy for breakfast." This famous quote from Peter Drucker has often been used to downplay the importance of #strategy. At INCITE, we see it differently. While #culture is undeniably crucial, a business without a solid game plan (strategy) is like a sports team with no direction. Imagine a team with great values and enthusiasm but no strategy and a coach who says, "Just get out there and figure it out." They’ll struggle to win, and losing quickly erodes morale and culture. People want to play for a winner. Conversely, a business with a strong strategy but lacking shared values and work ethic will also falter. Success comes from balancing both. Debating whether culture or strategy is more important is like arguing if breakfast is all about the bacon or the eggs. We believe breakfast is best with both on the menu. So, order up. Maintaining alumni engagement and securing donor partnerships is becoming more and more challenging for colleges everywhere. We recently partnered with Portage College, to support them in both of those areas, while streamlining communications and fostering focused, resource-effective relationships. Celebrating our 25th anniversary has naturally led our team to reflect on some of our most meaningful milestones: our first year in business, office moves, client triumphs and our 20th-anniversary event in Kananaskis. In 2019, we celebrated our fiscal year-end and Christmas at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge (PKML). At the time, we’d been working with Pomeroy Lodging for two years as they renovated the space and joined the Marriott Autograph Collection. INCITE had developed a new brand and marketing strategy to position the property effectively post-renovation and re-introduce PKML to the market. Not only was it fulfilling (and a ton of fun) to see the visual branding come to life around the property, but we also got to immerse ourselves in the PKML brand experience. They added their signature flair to our team-bonding events like our ODR hockey game, set up some quality time for us in the Kananaskis Nordic Spa, served up mouth-watering dishes for dinner and delivered campfire smores to our private dining room. Now THAT is a brand experience we’ll never forget along with the equally memorable ugly sweater pub night. It was a gift to feel, taste and experience the PKML brand through the lens of such a special Incite celebration. Just wish they’d thrown the ugly sweater evidence in with the s’mores. 😄 This is memory 14/25.
