IFATCA Speak English Programme (SEP) The Speak English Programme is a way for ATCOs (and Pilots) all over the world to informally chat- a fun, gentle and easy way to improve your conversational English! What do you talk about in a SEP session???? Various aspects of our job and how the tasks of ADC/APS and ACC vary. While Miyu only co-ordinates with fellow Japanese colleagues, Pingkan has a huge interface with many other sectors in Brisbane, Auckland, Port Moresby, Manila and Kota Kinabalu. Speaking and understanding English in all these different dialects can prove challenging. And a million other topics of interest to ATCOs- travel, food, hobbies.....because no matter where in the world e work, we have more in common than not! The International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations has issued a press release in relation to the European staff shortages, (although we see the same issues worldwide) in response to the public discussions around flight delays in the region this summer. https://lnkd.in/dkSEZduR We have long highlighted the need for increasing staffing levels in the rapidly growing aviation industry, emphasizing the risks and negative consequences on the Network’s performance due to inadequate or delayed recruitment, inconsistent financial policies, excessive lobbying, and cost-cutting regulations on essential services. Traffic has seen a 125% increase vs 2019 and we have only 80% of the Network available due to the war in Ukraine, causing traffic to be rerouted through already congested areas. IFATCA reaffirms its total commitment to the women and men involved in the safe, stable, and efficient operations of the European Network. Despite the challenging conditions and well-documented staff shortages in many areas, staff are tirelessly going the extra mile to deliver the best services possible daily. However, fatigue is becoming a serious concern. Safety and Security remain our absolute priority under all circumstances. IFATCA's Technical Operational Committee (TOC) TOC June get together: the committees meet regularly to discuss updates on the progress of their working papers. This is an opportunity to get valuable feedback from their colleagues, and work on strategy toward completing their working papers. The group also had the chance to discuss some of the details of forthcoming in person meetings. This years working papers will be across a wide variety of topics including updating the TPM/Provisional Policies, Environment, and topics which overlap with IFALPA. https://lnkd.in/df67cWFe

IFATCA at International Civil Aviation Organization The ICAO Personnel Training and Licensing Panel (PTLP) held their meeting in Dublin (Ireland), 27-31 May 2024. Ausra Straume (Latvia) represented IFATCA on the Panel. The meeting discussed automation, competency-based training and assessment, simulated training devices for ATCOs; women, minority and ethnic groups in aviation professions, English language proficiency requirements, and electronic personnel licences. IFATCA at ICAO- who are our representatives? Have you ever wondered who represents IFATCA on ICAO panels? Introducing himself is Oliviero Barsanti (Italy), the IFATCA representative on ICAOs Flight Operations Panel (FLTOPSP) which addresses subjects such as increasing aerodrome capacity, procedures for all weather operations, limits for flight time, flight duty periods and rest periods, single IFR commercial operations and single pilot operations. He brings the very important ATM/ATCO view to the discussions on this panel. It's a music festival that puts together air traffic controllers from all over the planet Earth in the same venue 🌍🎸🍾🍻 From the 27th to 31st October 2024 this 6th edition is going to be aboard 🛳️ Costa Fascinosa, a superlative 290 meter ship. Over four nights air traffic controllers become rock stars, playing hard on the stage all night long. The show is made up of 15 live bands, 4 DJs and around 500 CoMuFers!
