One of the biggest challenges with the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) project was integrating a cutting-edge transit system into Montreal’s bustling urban environment. The city’s existing infrastructure and densely populated areas required a careful balance of innovation and sensitivity to the community, all while ensuring that ongoing construction did not disrupt daily life too much.    Working together with our partners, CDPQ Infra engaged us to tackle this challenge using innovative engineering, conservation methods, and urban planning techniques. We were responsible for conducting the project’s preliminary and environmental studies, the design of the Mount Royal Tunnel rehabilitation, preliminary conceptual design, and oversaw implementation, technical support, site supervision, and related project procurement.    The result? An award-winning, forward-thinking, sustainable transit system that is set to transform Montreal’s transportation landscape for years to come. Hatch’s expertise and commitment to collaboration played a crucial role in making this complex project a reality.    Read about REM's South Shore segment's win at the prestigious international FIDIC Awards: https://lnkd.in/gguz_8sK     #REM #TransitSolutions #EngineeringExcellence #ProjectDelivery  Photos: NouvLR

Railways have been an important aspect of our transportation system-connecting cities, countries and continents. As railway transportation becomes more accessible, it becomes more imperative to ensure safety, to protect commuters from mishaps or accidents that could lead to injuries or fatalities.    At Hatch, health and safety is at the core of everything we do. It's more than just managing risks—we make safety a front-of-mind issue for everyone, building a strong safety culture for employees, partners, and the communities we serve. We believe this is imperative to mitigate risks and reduce incidents.    Thus, to round up this year's #RailSafetyWeek, we have collated key facts to keep in mind about safety around trains and tracks. By prioritizing safety, we can ensure that railways continue to be one of the safest modes of transportation for future generations.    #Railway #Trains #Transit #RailwaySafety #Infrastructure
