The clinic will accommodate more than 30 healthcare professionals and support staff and will open in 2025. It will have the capacity to support about 10,000 patients. Film productions outside the Halifax region will benefit from additional funding through the Nova Scotia Film & Television Production Incentive Fund. The Distant Location Incentive was developed to address higher production costs incurred outside of the Halifax region and to encourage film producers to expand their projects into rural areas. Under the new two-tiered incentive: - productions filmed more than 100 kilometres from Halifax City Hall will receive up to a seven per cent incentive on total eligible Nova Scotia costs. - productions filmed more than 150 kilometres from Halifax City Hall will receive up to a 10 per cent incentive on total eligible Nova Scotia costs. Under a new Provincial program, learners choosing healthcare careers as either primary care paramedics or emergency medical responders in Nova Scotia can get free tuition. Minister of Health and Wellness, Michelle Thompson, made the announcement as she officially opened a new Emergency Health Services regional station in Beech Hill, Antigonish County last week. Starting this fall, Grade 12 students who meet graduation requirements at the end of the first semester will be able to enter two skilled trades programs at Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) sooner. The Province is launching a pilot program that will see 34 eligible students begin at NSCC in February. The pilot includes NSCC’s pre-apprenticeship plumbing program at the Sydney campus and the pre-apprenticeship electrical construction and industrial program at the Truro campus.
