We seek to empower people and train firefighting divisions in the global community

About us

Canadian firefighters arrive on the scene of an emergency within minutes, with the skills and tools to manage the most challenging situations. That is not the case in many countries. Firefighters around the world struggle to provide emergency services simply because they lack the funding for essential training and equipment. GlobalFire exists to bridge that gap. GlobalFire is a team of volunteers who strive to strengthen the emergency response capacity of underfunded fire stations around the world. This is achieved through the collection and donation of firefighting equipment; and through the provision of free, professional training workshops.

The Fritch Volunteer Fire Department was struggling with old, brokedown equipment while protecting their community from wildfires earlier this year. GlobalFire was able to deliver a fire skid to them to improve their capacity now and into the future.

Before the official start of brushfire season, the Texas Panhandle experienced some devastating fires. Air Canada’s support allowed us to fly two fire skids from our supplier in Edmonton, down to Texas where we delivered them to two volunteer fire departments. Each fire skid is equipped with a 1,000 liter tank, a pump, and a hose and are designed to be mounted in a truck to quickly extinguish fires in hard to reach areas.

As many Canadians know all too well, wildfires can wield profound devastation. They not only threaten homes, neighborhoods, and communities but also deeply affect their long-term resilience. With projections indicating that this wildfire season could be Canada's most severe yet, community organizations face a monumental task in preparing individuals to stay safe and mitigate the worst possible outcomes. To support this vital work, I am proud to share that TD has made a $250,000 donation to four incredible organizations working to equip communities with the knowledge and tools they need to bolster their wildfire prevention and preparedness efforts: FNESS - First Nations' Emergency Services Society of BC, GlobalFire, CLIMAtlantic and the University of Alberta Wildfire Analytics Team . This year, the eight volunteer firefighters of Crutch Ranch Volunteer Fire Department struggled to protect cattle and grasslands from devastating wildfires with their one fire response vehicle. It has been a constant battle to protect their community, including people, structures and cattle. Thanks to Orica’s generous support, we were able to donate a fire skid with a 1000 litre tank, pump and hose to double their capacity to respond to fires on the ranch and surrounding communities.

Fire departments in Texas have been overwhelmed by the wildfires burning across the state this year. In order to support the firefighters working to control wildfires burning across the Panhandle, Air Canada flew two of our fire skid units and three of our volunteers to Texas. With our boots on the ground, the GlobalFire team picked up the fire skids from the airport and efficiently delivered them to two volunteer fire departments. These fire skids will increase the capacity of the fire departments who have been struggling to protect their communities with outdated equipment.

Thanks to the generous support from Orica, we were able to procure 2 specialty-made fire skids to respond to the Texas wildfires. The fire skids are designed with a water tank, pump and hose to be mounted on pickup trucks, turning them into small fire trucks. Upon arrival, Orica’s Logistics team helped with customs clearance so we could quickly deliver the skids to two volunteer fire departments in the fire-affected area of the Texas Panhandle. This new equipment will bolster the capacity of the two fire departments to protect their communities.
