Creativity and activity go hand in hand! 🎨🏃♂️ #ThrowbackThursday to when Benoit Simard, Vice Chair of the TELUS Montreal Community Board and Florence-Agathe Dubé-Moreau, Co-chair of Fondation Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, met up for a special cheque presentation at TELUS Place in Montreal. “Thanks to generous donors, our three year old son has found his voice.” Theo lives with complex medical conditions, leaving him unable to speak. Thanks to the support of our charity partner, The Chalmers Foundation, Theo was able to access pediatric Eyegaze technology, an eye-driven communication device that allows a patient to communicate through eye movement. Since joining the program, which is available to young patients of Horizon Health Network's Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation, Theo’s personality has started to shine. Like other three-year olds, he's now able to communicate about things like animals and colours, but most importantly, his parents know when he's happy :) We’re proud to support Chalmers Foundation’s Preschool Communication program through a TELUS Atlantic Canada Community Board grant to help kids like Theo interact with the world around them and communicate with their loved ones. #Accessibility #Inclusion #FriendlyFuture

Thank you Darren Entwistle for continuing to spotlight the innovation behind the projects we fund. Check out this article from CollingwoodToday to learn more about how Talk Is Free Theatre's YouthDome is leveraging augmented reality translation glasses to help remove barriers for youth to participate in theatre: https://lnkd.in/ggXkv3pU
For many young newcomers to Canada, language barriers can prevent them from fully participating in activities. Thanks to support from TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, Talk Is Free Theatre has a new tool to allow youth to participate in theatre – glasses that provide real-time translation from 96 different languages! Using augmented reality, the glasses ensure that language no longer acts as a barrier, allowing youth to build friendships, combat isolation and improve their mental health. Together, we’re making the #FutureFriendly.

Together, we did it “fore” a friendlier future! Thank you to the incredible sponsors of our 2024 Golf Classics, including Norton Rose Fulbright. Through the generous support of our many partners, donors and attendees, we raised $430,000 in support of helping youth pursue their dream of a post-secondary education. Initiatives like these are helping thousands of socially-minded students attend college or university each year through the TELUS Student Bursary. 🎓 Enjoy the highlight video from our recent Charity Golf Classic that took place in Vancouver. ⛳

We’re proud to support Classroom Champions through a TELUS Calgary and Southern Alberta Community Board grant. Classroom Champions’ Social and Emotional learning curriculum helps connect students from underserved communities with Olympians and Paralympians like Grace Dafoe, Canadian National Skeleton player, who mentors youth, helping build critical life skills. Our very own Britt Kubicz had the privilege of seeing the program in action and handing out these cute TELUS duck plushies to participating students. #YouthEmpowerment #FriendlyFuture
