More progress is being made on the CHEO Integrated Treatment Centre project in Ottawa! Earlier this month, our site team had a concrete pouring topping off event marking the completion of the parking garage structure. The new treatment centre will bring together programs and services for youth living with complex medical, developmental, behavioural or mental health needs into a new, state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility on CHEO’s main Smyth Road campus. The site team was paid a visit by CHEO President and Chief Executive Officer, Alex Munter, to warmly thank everyone for their hard work and persistence on the project. Michael M. Today is recognized as National Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day – a day that holds meaning for all of us here in Canada, especially as we continue to learn and grow in our understanding of our country's history with Indigenous Peoples. It is an opportunity for us to reflect on and acknowledge the painful history and ongoing legacy of residential schools. It's a time to honour the lost children and Survivors of these schools, their families, and communities. At EllisDon, we are committed to learning, listening, and growing in the spirit of reconciliation. https://shorturl.at/jufE5 Tom Howell Jennifer Khan , B.A, CMP Gagan Sharma, MA

EllisDon has launched a renewable diesel pilot program across five projects in British Columbia and Ontario! Directly connected to our journey to net-zero, we have identified renewable diesel as a key opportunity to drastically reduce the carbon impact of our sites. Renewable diesel is processed to be chemically identical to conventional diesel fuel, offering 75-80% emissions reductions – with no sacrifice in quality, reliability, or efficiency, and no need to modify existing machinery or fuel distribution infrastructure. Take a Deep Dive: 4th Avenue Flyover Bridge Rehabilitation Project 🤿🌉 EllisDon’s Civil Team effectively managed a unique scope involving extensive in-stream pier repair work for the centre pier. The team worked with a temporary works engineer to design and build a steel “dry box” assembly that could be lifted with a crane from the bridge above and installed around the centre pier. Commercial SCUBA divers from Aquatech Diving & Marine Services Ltd. were brought in to utilize special tools such as underwater hammer drills and jackhammers to install the dry boxes while working in the river current.  Once a watertight seal was achieved using a specialized gasket system, EllisDon self-performed concrete demolition and restoration while adhering to strict environmental permitting restraints and constant monitoring.  Well done to the Civil team in Calgary for working through this fascinating phase of the project!
