If you sent us an email, took a tour of our facility, or grabbed a bottle of water from our ECAC Icicle Tricycle, chances are you interacted with one of our amazing summer students. We want to give a big thank you to Cole Ivers, Aidan Bianchini, John McLean and Parker Van Grieken for all your hard work this year. Best of luck with your studies—we know you'll do great!
Last week, we said goodbye to our summer students and I'm feeling very grateful for the experiences I've had with Parker Van Grieken, John McLean, Cole Ivers and Aidan Bianchini - they started as my team of Blind Mice and they truly became my team of Wise Men! When you let students take ownership on projects, they bring fresh ideas, creativity, and energy. This summer, I didn’t have the time to micromanage, and from the moment they started, these four were thrown straight into the deep end of startup life, tackling everything from sales to accounting to marketing. By trusting them with real responsibilities and letting them make decisions, I gained not only from the time they put in but also from their innovative ideas and commitment. Their sharp minds constantly challenged me, asking layered questions that made me think. We also had a lot of fun playing the 'What Would You Do?' game, hypothetically tackling real business challenges—like ruminating on how recreational facilities could respond to sudden mandatory water restrictions. Their solutions gave me fresh perspectives that I might not have considered. Giving students the freedom to own their projects doesn’t just help them grow, it helps you, as a leader, do your job better — I can't wait to have these four back for a tour next summer!

Last week, we unveiled our latest renderings of our Squash Courts and Lounge in our email newsletter. While Singles Squash is an individual game, it is still extremely social. The spirit behind our Squash Lounge was to create a space that is sophisticated and relaxed, where players can feel comfortable collapsing into a chair when they get off the court and ordering a round of smoothies to be delivered to the table. We're looking forward to hosting interclub league play, as well as offering private lessons, registered programs, and tournaments in the not-so-distant future! With 20 years of experience in both boutique and big box gyms, Jennelle has a proven track record of helping individuals achieve their fitness goals and improve their health. She completed 21 certifications in areas including strength training, nutrition, pre/post-natal care, brain health, and more. Jennelle's passion for mental and physical well-being led her to manage trainers in Los Angeles, making a significant impact on community wellness. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring Calgary's dining scene with her husband, hiking in the mountains, biking, and visiting her two adult children on the East Coast. Our COO Alix spent this morning at Telsec Farms, visiting one of Telsec's warm blood competitive show jumping horses. How sweet is Maeve with her new ECAC saddle pad!? Maeve was imported from Holland and she’s shown in Canada at Spruce Meadows, Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, B.C. and Desert Horse Park in Thermal, California! It was great to watch Austin exercise her, and see her in action in the ring, especially with her new ECAC gear!

John and Aidan are down at Willow Park Charity Golf Classic today! Eau Claire Athletic Club has donated to their silent auction in support of Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS). The silent auction proceeds directly contribute to the PADS Calgary Training Centre Expansion Project which aims to increase the number of service dog placements by 150% or more. Thanks for having us on such a beautiful day!
