Texas and California have been making headlines with the scale of energy storage deployment this year. As a Canadian based start-up, we’re thrilled to see Canada picking up the pace in this sector that is paramount to reaching global decarbonisation goals. This overview from pv magazine Global looks at how Canada is kicking battery storage deployment into gear. Highlights: 👉 The deployment of battery energy storage systems (BESS) is rapidly increasing, with a major 705 MWh system coming to Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan's first utility-scale BESS project going online last week. 👉 These are significant steps towards Canada's renewable energy goals, with Nova Scotia aiming for 80% renewables by 2030. Battery storage will play a key role in grid stability and reliability as we integrate more solar and wind power. While this progress is significant, there's room for even faster growth.
