Thank you, Michael Eisenstein at Nature Magazine, for diving into the latest breakthrough in biology, AI foundation models. At Deep Genomics, we are finding new ways of accelerating discoveries in drug development and biotechnology leveraging the vast datasets of genetic, molecular, and cellular data these AI models can process. Not only does this innovation reshape how we approach complex challenges like disease diagnosis, it also sets the groundwork for personalized medicine and in turn, creates better patient outcomes. Brendan Frey was happy to contribute his expertise to the piece. A few of his thoughts below: “'A year and a half ago in our pitch, we would proudly talk about how we had 40 different machine learning models,' says Brendan Frey, founder and chief innovation officer of RNA drug discovery company Deep Genomics. Maintaining, scaling and integrating disparate models for predicting distinct yet intersecting biological processes such as RNA transcription, splicing or polyadenylation proved too challenging, however. As a solution, the company developed BigRNA, a foundation model that can make robust predictions about all these aspects of RNA biology — and more." "As more researchers begin to tinker with the models, Frey envisions opportunities ranging from accelerated discovery of new drugs for ultra-rare diseases to ‘multimodal’ models that integrate data from DNA, RNA, and protein to produce a more holistic perspective on the cellular interior. 'Eventually, I would hope we’ll start peeling back the cover on systems biology.'” To read more, check out the full article here 👉https://lnkd.in/eNv6nfPY #techbio #biology #DrugDiscovery #AIinnovation
About us
Deep Genomics is using artificial intelligence to build a new universe of life-saving genetic therapies. The future of medicine will rely on artificial intelligence, because biology is too complex for humans to understand. At Deep Genomics, our geneticists, molecular biologists and chemists develop new ways of detecting and treating disease using our biologically accurate artificial intelligence technology.

Checking in from the new office space in Toronto! Last week, we had our Quarterly Employee Event to bring everyone together to connect with cross-functional teams, recap our big wins and of course, have some fun. It was great having the team together for the first of many employee events in the new space and we can’t wait for the next one. Take a look at some of the photos below for a glimpse of our time together - including a pipette challenge featuring our wet lab and dry lab teams! #TeamEvents #Toronto #Boston #TechBio

Celebrating a big night for Deep Genomics! Jing Ge and Radu Dobrin were in New York to accept The Stevie® Awards for Biotechnology Company of the Year last week! It was inspiring to be surrounded by other 2024 nominees and winners. Our team brings incredible passion and energy to our techbio innovation and drug discovery efforts and we are so excited to be recognized for our work. Jing put it best in her acceptance speech: “Company of the Year is more than a recognition of the technology we are developing. It is a testament to the shared mission of our dedicated team whose passion drives everything we do, of the partners we collaborate with, of the investors who believe in us, and of course, the patients to whom we are all striving to bring life-saving genetic therapies. It's a recognition of what we have all accomplished together and a motivation for us to keep pushing forward, to keep innovating, and to keep collaborating to redefine the future of medicine.” Special thanks to Brian O'Callaghan and Brendan Frey for their ongoing leadership. To many more milestones 🏆 #deepgenomics #stevieawards #techbio #awards
