We had a great day celebrating National Intern Day yesterday (July 25) in our office! We put together a special lunch and some goodies to show appreciation to all our interns here at Deep Genomics. And, of course, there had to be some (competitive!) table tennis going on. Have a look at some of the highlights in our gallery below. #internappreciation #nationalinternday #deepgenomics
About us
Deep Genomics is using artificial intelligence to build a new universe of life-saving genetic therapies. The future of medicine will rely on artificial intelligence, because biology is too complex for humans to understand. At Deep Genomics, our geneticists, molecular biologists and chemists develop new ways of detecting and treating disease using our biologically accurate artificial intelligence technology.

It was great to bring the full Deep Genomics team together in Toronto this past week — and you can see some of what we got up to in the photos below! Our days were spent in live brainstorms with our teams, taking updated headshots, and spending focused time with our leaders to strengthen the support for our employees and culture; all before we took the chance to wind down and socialise (and play some video games too - make sure you scroll to the last photo…) We’re continuing to grow this incredible team. It’s important that as we grow, so do the connections between us all. That’s why we’re hosting these events quarterly, giving us as much “face time” as possible and bringing us closer together! We are thrilled to share new photos of our Toronto and Cambridge offices! In case you missed our latest news, Deep Genomics recently celebrated the opening of our new office and lab facility in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and expanded our existing Toronto facility. As our Chief Scientific Officer Greg Hoffman puts it, it’s an exciting time for our company. “The Cambridge office expansion and lab opening will be a huge asset for fostering collaboration between teams, combining wet lab and machine learning expertise, to usher in a new era of pharma R&D.” See pictures from both locations below. You can learn more about our expansion, including new hires, at https://lnkd.in/eFWrcCGM. Interested in joining the Deep Genomics team? In the first of a new series, we ask: #WhyAI? At Deep Genomics, we are pioneering new AI science alongside biological science. But what are some key challenges facing biotech and pharmaceutical industries that foundation models can help solve? While the current climate for biopharma innovation is seemingly ideal, productivity remains low. @The National Institutes of Health in the United States highlighted that of 16 leading pharma companies, R&D spending increased at a compound annual growth rate of 6% between 2001-2020. This led to an average R&D expenditure per company of $6.7 billion - and nearly half had negative productivity as a result. Standard AI has not yet lived up to the promise of increased productivity, but AI foundation models, such as BigRNA, offer a new approach. BigRNA can uniquely discover - at speed - a wide range of new targets and RNA therapeutic opportunities that otherwise would take too much money and workforce power to find. Want to learn more about BigRNA and “Why AI”? Learn more on the Deep Genomics website: https://lnkd.in/gP4apMmb #BigRNA #techbio #biotech #aipharma

We’re pleased to share this insightful article by our founder, Brendan Frey, now live on the Healthcare Business Today website. Brendan’s article highlights the transformative power of AI foundation models in pharmaceutical R&D that we’re seeing every day in our work. The pharmaceutical industry is moving away from an approach where AI is task-driven into foundation models. But how can they use them effectively? Read Brendan’s full article below to leverage AI foundation models for positive and impactful change in the industry. #deepgenomics #techbio #aipharma #pharmaindustry #foundationmodels

It was great to have our Vice President and Head of Machine Learning, Joel Shor, at Google Cloud’s Startup GenAI Roundtable this week. The session delved into how businesses can leverage AI for innovation and the pressing ethical considerations of AI - areas that we, at Deep Genomics, are deeply committed to. For example, AI has enabled us to move from statistical analysis to making predictions. But one of our key priorities now is verifying these predictions and connecting the dots between analytical predictions and biological validation. Our industry is high stakes, so we need to be sure that we can trust the outputs of our models. Take a look at some of the photos from the day below. Thanks again to the Google Cloud team for inviting us, and we’re looking forward to working closely together in the future! #googlecloud #deepgenomics #genai #aiethics #aiinnovation
