Today we’re very excited to announce our next big step towards expanding our innovative circular textile ecosystem by launching our first fully owned and operated U.S. facility in Ohio. This strategic location enhances our capacity to meet the increasing demand for scalable advanced textile sortation services, expanding our innovative circular textile ecosystem that serves as North America’s most comprehensive textile sustainability and circularity hub. “By expanding our footprint, we’re making the investments necessary to move the industry towards a more responsible future. Not only will this help us address our current challenges with pre- and post-consumer waste, but we’re also future proofing so that once regulations pass and our clients are faced with new operational realities, we’re ready to support them in lockstep to create the most impactful systems of sustainability and circularity possible.” – Amelia Eleiter This new 32,000-square-foot facility has been specifically designed to support brands in integrating sustainability and circularity models that align with impending regulatory compliance using future-proof sortation technology and cutting-edge machinery. "The U.S. is one of the top consumers of textiles in the world, driven partly by fast-fashion demand for mass produced, low-cost clothing, according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office. The GAO, which recently published a report highlighting opportunities and challenges for improving textile recycling programs in the U.S., pointed out that current mechanical and chemical recycling technologies 'are limited by a lack of supporting infrastructure,' and that more innovations are needed to make the process more effective and accessible." Developing solutions in North America that can tackle textile waste at scale requires a large shift in infrastructure. Our new Ohio facility is a significant step towards expanding our innovative circular textile ecosystem and will allow for more opportunities to build circular models alongside apparel brands and solution partners. In the last week, we've received a huge wave of positivity from our network about this big news, and our team is so grateful for it. We're excited to see where this milestone takes us. Thank you to Waste Dive and Megan Quinn for this wonderful feature. Read more about our new Ohio facility below. Fashion Dive Industry Dive Amelia Eleiter Wes B.

Debrand's origin story begins 16 years ago on a beach in Southern Sri Lanka when our co-founders, Amelia Eleiter and Wes Baker, were surfing along the pristine shores and witnessed the disheartening reality of branded waste floating in the ocean water. In that moment, their motivation was fuelled to partner with brands and help them become more responsible with their product waste. And from this, Debrand was born. In anticipation of World Ocean Day tomorrow, we're taking a moment to remind ourselves of how it all started. We're celebrating the many wins we've had since 2008, while acknowledging that there's still a long road ahead to solving the world's waste problem. Here's to our continued purpose-driven work and the good company we're doing it with to drive transformative collaboration. Thank you for a great #Circularity24, GreenBiz Group! Don't forget to drop your recyclable conference lanyards in the Eastman and Debrand collection boxes before you leave! After the conference, Debrand will work their magic, collecting, cleaning, and repairing these lanyards for potential reuse. Anything beyond repair will be sent to Eastman and recycled via our molecular recycling technologies, keeping materials in use and out of landfills.
