Earlier this year, Canada’s only national general aviation association signed an exclusive agreement with air shows across Canada to bring Canadian pilots and aviation enthusiasts together. The new partnership will offer COPA members exclusive viewing areas at acclaimed air shows across Canada during a pivotal year for aviation as Canadians celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force | Aviation royale canadienne. This year, the member-only tents will be held at the Airshow Atlantic, Airshow London "Sky Drive", and Aero Gatineau-Ottawa Air Shows. Members are encouraged to purchase their tickets and register for the COPA tent ahead of time as limited seating is available per day. Alternatively, guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets for additional seating. https://lnkd.in/e-tjY8B2

At last week’s Canadian Women in Aviation (CWIA) conference, our Director, Marketing and Communications, Sharon Cheung hosted a workshop to better understand what helps encourage more women to become pilots and stay in the aviation sector. Thank you CWIA for the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about industry-wide solutions needed to support the future of the aviation industry. Through COPA, we offer outreach initiatives, scholarships, community, mentorship and much more!
Beyond grateful to the Canadian Women in Aviation (CWIA) (Madison Furgala, Frances T., Heather H.) for the opportunity to discuss pathways for encouraging more women to enter and stay in aviation. In the US, the FAA was mandated by Congress to establish the Women in Aviation Advisory Board and produce a report on the very same topic. Their 2022 report identified that the biggest barrier discouraging participation is culture - women do not feel they belong. I am hopeful we can source more data here in Canada, and ultimately influence more informed discussions on how to better recruit and retain future pilots, AMEs, etc. Thankful for a supportive employer like the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) who actively works to be a solution when it comes to enabling more pilots within the Canadian aviation ecosystem.

We were proud to support the Canadian Women in Aviation (CWIA) who held a conference in Montreal this week. Hundreds of women who are experts in their respective areas in aviation gathered and discussed how to inspire future generations and how to retain talent within the sector. COPA supported the event by promoting General Aviation through our booth and by joining many discussions on creating pathways for pilots to thrive here in Canada. Thank you to this year's organizers for such an uplifting event!

COPA was honoured to meet with Parliamentarians and highlight the importance of our $9 billion General Aviation industry yesterday evening. Airports, travel, and air transportation of goods would not exist without pilots! This event was co-organized between COPA and six other industry groups (ATAC, CAC, CBAA, NATA, NACC and NAV CANADA) to demonstrate our united efforts to promote and discuss the needs of aviation in Canada.
