Diversifying Canadian business, one connection at a time.
About us
We often get the question: why do you exist? There are business chambers at the regional and national level, and corporations’ support for 2SLGBTQI initiatives is on the rise. It’s easy to give a by-the-numbers response. Canada is home to over 100,000 2SLGBTQI -owned businesses. These businesses generate over $22 billion in economic activity and employ over 435,000 Canadians. In other words, 2SLGBTQI business is big business. However, 2SLGBTQI entrepreneurs still face barriers. Nearly half have hidden who they were in business dealings to avoid losing opportunities, and more than a third have lost opportunities due to being 2SLGBTQI . There is a growing number of organizations looking to change these stats – one connection at a time. A community of 2SLGBTQI businesses, government liaisons and even diverse procurement practices are helping tip the scales. CGLCC is a coalition of all of these positive forces advocating for change to make a more inclusive Canadian economy possible. We do this by bringing people together, and highlighting the right resources for 2SLGBTQI entrepreneurs to be even more successful. So, the answer is: we exist because 2SLGBTQI entrepreneurs already have a huge impact on the Canadian economy, with barriers. Let’s see what kind of thriving and inclusive Canada is possible when we remove them.

The Surge Pride in Entrepreneurship Networking Event graciously hosted by the Canada's 2SLGBTQI Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) and Halifax Chamber of Commerce was a testament to the incredible power of connection. Meeting so many like-minded business people from the queer community and beyond was truly inspiring. The inclusive atmosphere was a beautiful reminder of the progress we are making. I’m proud to be part of this next frontier of progress. Our community will always face challenges, but that's why we have to fight together for inclusivity and equity in the workplace. It was also lovely to reconnect with some of my favorite people in business Dalene Courneya Allen, Katie Kelley, Vanessa Burns, Emma B. Perez, Priya Choudhary. Here’s to building a more inclusive future, together! 🌈✨ #PowerOfConnection #SurgePride #InclusiveBusiness #Community #Networking #Progress #EquityInTheWorkplace #BusinessNetworking #Inspiration #NextFrontier

What an incredible event! The Surge Pride and Entrepreneurship Networking Event hosted by the Canada's 2SLGBTQI Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) and Halifax Chamber of Commerce was a fantastic opportunity to meet so many inspiring entrepreneurs and connect with like-minded individuals. It was also an opportunity to learn about inclusive practices in business and a continual fight for rights within the 2SLGBTQIA space, specifically within the business world. I enjoyed wonderful refreshments, including sangria cocktails and Pinot Grigio. What a wonderfully catered event! What an incredible event! Dalene Courneya Allen Katie Kelley Priya Choudhary Emma B. MUST READ if you are an American employer dabbling in the human resources management of your Canadian employees without local counsel. I was pleased to write about the pitfalls of Canadian employment law for American-based employers and the upcoming trade mission by Canada's 2SLGBTQI Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) to National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) 2024 Conference and Trade Show in the July issue of Momentum for the Maple Business Council. Big thanks to Daniel Hassell for the heavy lifting on the caselaw and to Darrell Schuurman for his insights on Canada's queer economy. And, thank you Stephen D. Armstrong for this opportunity.
Watch for the July issue of our MOMENTUM e-publication in your inbox today! In this month's issue, Gene Garcia, Principal, Tax Compliance and Consulting Services at RSM US LLP profiles key commercial real estate trends and Ted Flett, Principal Lawyer at Toronto-based Zubas Flett Law discusses navigating Canadian employment law for U.S. companies expanding into the Canadian market. Wow! What a fabulous turnout yesterday! I was honoured to be invited to walk in the #Halifax #Pride Parade, representing To The Root Electrolysis Studio. Our electrolysis studio is the proudly first and only Rainbow Registered clinic in Nova Scotia! I was easily recognizable in my pink scrubs FIGS celebrating alongside the vibrant community. The turnout was fantastic, and it was heartwarming to see so many people come together to support and celebrate diversity. Standing alongside the Canada's 2SLGBTQI Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) I felt privileged to raise awareness about electrolysis as an important aspect of gender-affirming care. ________________________________________ Schedule Your Free Consultation Today! https://lnkd.in/eHuy4wdw ⏰: 10am - 8pm ☎️: (902)991-0888 📆: Monday - Saturday 📍: Middle Sackville, Nova Scotia ________________________________________
